Lord Patten 100% reflects my view, particularly the point about the dangers of this all undermining our democracy

Remember the likes of Trump and Farage want democracy gone. It doesn't serve their purpose
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

"I don't think that we should allow ourselves to be bullied into thinking that the BBC is only any good, if it reflects the prejudice of the last person who shouted at it." ~AA

BBC - what a mess

We need public service broadcasting imo

Cameron started this when he dumped the Board of Trustees and replaced it with a quango basically. That allowed the political element to gain hold

We now face the prospect of a political cabal undermining our democracy and killing it

BBC Director General Tim Davie and news CEO Deborah Turness have both quit. Getting rid of a former Tory candidate and the woman who wanted to change output to gain the trust of Reform voters should definitely sort out any left wing bias.

Let's be clear, those that could afford it have for 100s of years employed private tutors for their children's education

But to call this "progressive" as the person running the advert for the parents does, is frankly idiotic

Good teachers use the class dynamic to teach progressive traits & values
A London family wants £180k a year tutor for one-year old child to help him become an English gentleman.

Tutor must have gone to "the right kinds of schools", knowledge of horse riding, skiing, the arts and music.

This is the real island of strangers where class wars are inculcated at young age.
Tutor sought for £180k job to teach baby to become a 'gentleman'

Now Donald Trump is, through the scumbag liar & propagandist Karoline Leavitt, telling British people that they should watch the far right wing channel GB “News” instead of the BBC. I regard this as an act of war. Go to hell Trump.

In totalitarian states there is a lot of emphasis on having emblems and totems that reinforce the power and control of the leader over the people

If I were the Commanders I would make sure his name is put up on such a way that it can be removed cheaply and quickly

Trump wants Commanders football stadium to bear his name
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said naming the Washington football stadium in honour of Trump would be "beautiful".

What the heck is this change to the appearance of the advertising hoardings at the Man City Stadium today. They now seem on the TV to be double the normal height

It's incredibly distracting trying to focus on the match

Well done to everyone who remembered to vote.

Once again the Restore Trust group were seen off.

Let's do it all again next year.
National Trust council elections saw a defeat for the Restore Trust campaign.

35k members voted to re-elect a slate of council candidates endorsed by the nominations committee

12k - 13.5k voted for candidates on Restore Trust slate

Non-slate candidated

This, absolutely this

Take a good squint at the actual data on small boats

The BBC managers are simply not up to the task...or they have been nobbled

My money is on the latter

I want my BBC back please Mr Starmer. You can sort it. Just be a little braver!
Chris Mason is what happens when a Hospital Radio DJ, whose sole qualification appears to be a sort of soporific inoffensiveness, is somehow promoted to BBC Politics Editor - a position that demands unflinching insight, objectivity, and sharpness. It's like a puddle trying to be the ocean.
