You will find me around the middle of the room. Outward looking because if you are not you get isolated and stop learning

NHS for many years before retiring. Read a lot, listen a lot.

I don't have access to DMs so don't bother!
She is well practiced - a very long list of novels and other material. I have read a few but her genre is not really my cup of tea. A bit too American provincial

As you say, she really can find the right words for the moment though!

That is his personality I believe

Once is never enough!

(I wrote that and then thought of all those children he has begat!)

I have been pondering that for some time!

I think you are right

Whilst Thatcher brought a change of culture (me,me, me) and did lots of damage to the UK with the neolib stuff, Cameron was the cause of some really fundamental changes that were 🐎💩 frankly

And an American lawyer can always find an angle, not always a winning one but there will be an angle even if it looks obtuse at first glance

Lord Patten 100% reflects my view, particularly the point about the dangers of this all undermining our democracy

Remember the likes of Trump and Farage want democracy gone. It doesn't serve their purpose
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

"I don't think that we should allow ourselves to be bullied into thinking that the BBC is only any good, if it reflects the prejudice of the last person who shouted at it." ~AA

Well there was that take your son to work day in the Oval Office, just before Trump and he broke up!
November 11, 2025 at 7:09 AM
Oh!

Didn't know that but it sounds plausible now I think about it!

Good question

Came to the conclusion obernight that the only way forward would be for Govt to put an emergency order before Parliament to get rid of the Board and put in place a new set of Governance arrangements that are fit for purpose

They won't though

They'll sink further into the mire

Your analysis says a lot for his eugenicist approach to having children

Notably one of his children is shall we say, less than enamoured with him and his views

Umberto is the one I turn to most often on this mainly because he accepts that it's not straightforward and has subtleties and nuances. You highlight one in your post

Ah, just seen this. That probably answers the question I just posed!
November 11, 2025 at 5:39 AM
Should I assume that is because we at root all suffer a bit from conditioning bias?
November 11, 2025 at 5:37 AM
I read the piece and was a bit taken back by Lewis continuing to defend Gibb etc al saying he thought they were trying to protect the BBC in their own way

I beg to differ. If they are then they have let the whole thing run out of control. Idiots!

Starmer should have sacked the Board day one
