I logged into my twitter earlier today and my mentions were flooded by raging Nazi accounts posting that black people are biologically inferior. It is an awful place. It's turning into Stormfront. So, no matter what things may have been bad about twitter before Musk, this is just so much worse.
Musk has messed up Twitter so much that people often forget just how horrible pre-Elon Twitter was, even before he took over. The common refrain of "it's like Twitter but before Elon took over!" seems to be actually counterproductive imo

I also get the feeling that when I spend time on Musk's twitter, I behave worse and worse myself. You are constantly confronted with awfulness, and get dragged into behaving awfully yourself in response. Or at least I am too weak willed to resist it.
