It’s true. We shouldn’t pretend that. Trumpist culture is not the same as American culture and not equal. Trumpist culture is proudly ignorant, defiantly against America’s founding values and subsequently developed values, venomously bigoted, and generally despicable.
Fox News' Will Cain: "I’m sure there are very honorable law-abiding upstanding citizens and contributors from the Somali community here in the United States, BUT..."

He goes on to say "we aren’t going to pretend here that all cultures are of equal value or the same."

Brute Squad Barbie.
KARL: Did you know about the judge's order when you issued your order for the planes to continue?

KRISTI NOEM: This is an activist judge. We comply with all federal orders that are lawful and binding.

'brute squads' is exactly right
A Trumpified GOP imagined that it could build a multi-racial coalition at the same it was demonizing minorities — and targeting the Latino community with brute squads.

Alienating Latinos turned out to be a lousy political strategy

The lasting gift of Ronald Reagan
People wildly overestimate the economic security experienced by past generations. There's no period in American history where significant numbers of young people were just handed high paying jobs. Nostalgia for a time that never existed is a huge problem.
Why Nikki Haley’s son went radical: His generation inherited insecurity.

I profile Nalin Haley, a fascinating young man, who I believe will likely play an important role in conservative politics in years to come.

Sweet Jesus, I am reposting RM Nixon. But my dude is right.
I refuse to engage in that. I have seen worse. I have come back from worse. I am too old to engage in that. You fight, by God. You fight until you can no longer get up.
Mr. P, in all seriousness, Sir, do you think we’re even going to have another president? I’m beginning to doubt it very much.

Donald Trump is way less popular than he wants you to believe.

And you are significantly more powerful than he wants you to think.

She should have done this interview from the back seat of Chuck Berry's red Cadillac.
White House official Lindsey Halligan: "While slavery is obviously a horrible aspect of our nation's history, you can't really talk about slavery honestly unless you also talk about hope and progress ... we need to stop focusing so much on the lack of progress."

A teenage 4channer was beat up by two 15 year olds in DC, which was spotted and quickly stopped by nearby police. He told his friends, the richest man in the world and the Vice President of the United States, that he was pummeled by a dozen adult Romanians. A week later, Trump federalized DC police.

I just wanted to look at a baseball story before I sat down to work. I did not look at the story because it is not a story. It is a "podcast." A hundred times in a hundred I would rather read a thing than watch or listen to it. I miss a lot that way, but it is what it is.

Why the f’ck should I pay taxes?

I wonder if he informed Miller
Last week’s sudden pause on a weapons shipment to Ukraine was the handiwork of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth—who didn’t bother to inform Trump before enacting it.

The president is not in control of his own government.

Turns Out, Pete Hegseth Forgot a Crucial Step in Pausing Ukraine Aid
Guess who forgot to tell his boss what he was doing?

I'm an "A.i." abolitionist.

No consumer-facing LLMs or generative "A.i." in anything.

Sure, machine learning in science and a few other limited applications is fine.

But consumer-facing LLMs and generative "A.i." that are based on theft, push disinfo, and can be manipulated by billionaires?

No.

I really wish journalists world stop pretending Trump is guided by anything but impulse and id. He's a toddler with no object permanence.
We're governed by the lizard-brained impulses of a mad king, and the unwillingness of legacy media to acknowledge that reality is a big part of why we're here.
"President Donald Trump is no JFK," David Ignatius writes.

"But he just did something in the Iran crisis that reminds me a bit of Kennedy’s decision to step away from the cacophony of ExComm and explore options."
Opinion | Could Trump apply JFK’s Cuban missile crisis playbook to Iran?
The president’s pause in the Iran crisis reminds me of Kennedy’s decision to pull back from hawkish advisers.

And why does his DNI still have a job?
A question every reporter should be asking Trump and Republicans:

If Trump doesn't trust his own Director of National Intelligence, and by extension, US intelligence, then which country's intelligence is he relying upon?

And while Trump controlled govt, not a single arrest or prosecution for election stealing. To this day.
The thing that always amuses me about the 2020 conspiracies—and very little does!—is how they require believing that the 2020 election, when Trump controlled govt, was rigged by the Deep State, which then somehow forgot to rig the 2024 election when Biden was in the White House.
Context note: DOJ doesn’t turn over evidence to Congress if they have a viable investigation in the works.

So a public company that in 2024 had $3.62 million in total revenue (somewhat better than the average McDonald’s restaurant) and suffered a $401 million net loss is raising $2.5 billion in capital to buy … {checks notes} … bitcoin.

Guess whose company it is.
