The movie was internationally successful, Oldman was nominated for an Oscar that most people think he should've won, JLC really wanted them to do Smiley's People, Oldman REALLY wanted to do it, a script was written.... and they couldn't raise the money
In a just world, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) would have been only the first of many Le Carre adaptations along the same line… but we don’t live in a just world. 📽️

Barack was a coward. There. I said it .
Barack Obama said he wanted to look forward and not relitigate the crimes of the Bush administration regarding torture and Guantanamo Bay. That allowed for the drone war to proliferate and for even more expansion of executive power under Trump.
There are going to be prominent Democrats and mainstream media voices who insist that we have to "turn the page" and "forgive and forget" and they should all be roundly ignored, if not mercilessly mocked.

A lot of the people lamenting Marjorie Taylor Greene’s departure from Congress—and celebrating her as some kind of principled maverick—are going to end up eating their words when she reemerges in 2028 to help lead a pro-groper, pro-Fuentes “America First” faction of the GOP.
