The American healthcare funding model is a fucking disgrace in a modern economy
Actor James Van Der Beek is selling memorabilia from his film and television career, including Dawson’s Creek and Varsity Blues, to help with the financial cost of his cancer treatment.

My wife was out driving today and suddenly had to put the brakes on for the car in front doing the same!!!

It stopped for a chicken crossing the road.

I asked "Why?"

True story.

if you need any additional reasons not to cross the picket line here (you shouldn't, but still), Starbucks' CEO thinks his company that makes coffee and sells cakes should be "all-in" on AI for some inexplicable reason
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

This is Adelita Grijalva. She was elected 43 days ago.

Mike Johnson still refuse to swear her in because she is the final vote needed to release the Epstein Files.

Hence the government shutdown, day 37. Beating the previous record set by Trump in 2018/19 of 35 days.

if this stops people from lazily relying on TVTropes instead of actually developing media literacy for themselves, this may end up being a good thing in the long run

but also, fuck off. TVTropes was fun, but as with everything else, enshittification based on greed has come for it.
TV Tropes is blocking access to the site not only if you have ad blockers on but location tracking off unless you want to subscribe to their $5 a month/$25 a year subscription plan. Even people who have turned their ad blockers off are reporting the site isn’t working. This all seems like a bad idea

We're facing a political emergency: a high likelihood of an shamelessly authoritarian government in 2029. So we urgently need this basic safeguard: a codified constitution.
This week's column explains what we're missing and why it's so important.

We must act now: without a written constitution, Reform UK will have carte blanche to toxify our nation | Goerge Monbiot
It means breaking with hundreds of years of tradition, but it can’t wait. As hard-right figures spread division and laud autocrats, a fail-safe is vital, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot
