Legislation creates a Federal Tax Escrow Account in the state treasury. Instead of employers forwarding collected federal taxes to Washington, they send them to the state. The state holds the money in escrow. A legislative panel reviews federal spending for constitutional compliance.

If we could use nullification for people to get high, why can’t we use it to protect human rights and stop fascism?

A must read. It’s a matter of when, not if.
Six months ago I wrote this post about “the next terrorist attack.” I republish it now (lightly updated) because my fear of this scenario has recently grown much greater.

Protesting may or may not move Trump, but it does constrain his power and help move the public-facing entities he’s enlisting for help.

The bigotry is disgusting and obvious. We should all be ashamed of our broken government.
I know it’s too much to expect them to know their history, but if the American Revolution had a motto, it definitely would not have been “immigrants go home.”

It would have been “get your fucking soldiers out of our cities.”
America... boy, I dunno.

They could have stopped it at several points along the way and their refusal to do so is their clear support. That court was corrupted before Congress fell in line.
SCOTUS is all in on Project 2025. That's been obvious since the immunity decision, and Trump and Vought couldn't pull it off without them.
It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

He is so absolutely Renfield that you can’t unsee it.
He sold his soul, he knows it and he hates himself for it. He tries to have a hard edge but just looks like a child playing tough guy.
really can’t say enough about how mike johnson is a sniveling little coward of a man. a bayou-bred pushover with a dignity deficit that would embarrass renfield
Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that

Burning the flag these days feels like the only appropriate show of protest. We’re ashamed of our country, its current leaders and their abandonment of everything the flag symbolizes. They shit all over it so why shouldn’t we burn it?

Fuck all of that. No negotiation and triple down on free speech. They’re trying to scare people into silence without a law.
If you say Dems should negotiate with Trump, please confirm you've read the pre-shutdown Trump EO that authorizes you and yours to be probed as terrorists if you commit any thought-crime listed on the right-hand side of this Ken Klippenstein report excerpt.

*That* is who you want to negotiate with.

Shorter JD Vance: You are not allowed to criticize ICE.

Goes along with shorter Pete Hegseth: You are not allowed to criticize the military's action at Wounded Knee.

And shorter Donald Trump: You are not allowed to criticize me.

It's full-on authoritarianism, all the way down.
JD Vance is now using the term "blood libel" to describe criticism of ICE, saying, "The Democrats and the media — because they so hate the idea of a real border — are engaging in a kind of blood libel against ICE agents."

Somewhere, our ancestors wept.
