Friends, I have an incredible update. I met a friend from Jersey the other day who was visiting and she almost got fined on the Luas with no ticket because *drumroll please* she thought it was free!

I had to explain to her why I was absolutely dying when she told me this.

Katherine Butler - a nun who was one of the first women in Ireland with a pilot's license

Gráinne Cronin - First woman to fly for Aer Lingus

Madeleine O'Rourke - Dedicated her life to flying, first women to fly a microlight in Ireland and recognised by the FAI for contribution to Irish aviation.
The Dáil has heard a suggestion that Dublin Airport be named after the former Taoiseach Sean Lemass.

Any counteroffers?

Stop naming stuff after mediocre men.

Name them after women who achieved things in spite of lifetimes of oppression.

See, this is pure capitalism.

Great idea or great new shiny intention gets ruined by the need to advertise and promote things, but also not pay workers, so that rich people can get richer.
It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

I see Glinner is a criminal now.

How what he does and says isn't hatred and harassment, I don't know, by at least he has a conviction.

He's off back to Arizona with his little conviction. Should someone call ICE?

Doesn't this already exist?

I escaped Eir because of this back in 2017. I mean, yes they tried to get €754 off me anyway, and yes they sent my 'debt' to a collections service illegally and yes I had to threaten to sue them for them to go away, but it was still a legal right.

Klarna etc

Their entire business model is targeting low income people who need to spread the cost, and banking (literally) on them failing to meet the repayments and financially burying them.

If you're not at risk, but spreading the cost would help, don't do it. Don't reward vultures.

Ngl, it doesn't feel awesome that so much discourse about policies designed specifically to hurt trans people is about the negative effects it might have on some cis people.

Not cos it's not bad that it will have broader incidental effects but because it should be enough that it will hurt us.

Hi, I'm Abagtha Burke. Nice to try remove your basic human rights.
Your Burke name is the first name on this list you've never seen before (with the same first letter as your actual name) + Burke.

Defamation = a statement which

1. Is damaging to ones good (lol) character
2. Is published or heard by a third party
3. IS UNTRUE

I'm sure he'll argue that sexual assault is what he was found liable for and not specifically rape, but the details of the case make it clear that he raped Nikita Hand.

As a cis woman with short hair whose favorite outfit is a T-shirt and men’s jeans (they’re cheaper, more durable, and have POCKETS!) I’ve already had the ‘pleasure’ of anti-trans bigots trying to protect women from women like me.

Anti-trans bigotry simply misogyny. Always has been. Always will be.
If the EHRC had their way we'd see all women forced back into wearing only skirts and dresses and wearing their hair long lest they be suspected of being trans and banned from going to the toilet.

That's what this is suggesting. Masculine women being denied access alongside trans people.

This is why most of the bad things in society happens.

Nobody questions the culture and the conditioning that leads men to behave the way they do and cause the huge harm in society they cause.

Yes. All men. Cos every single man benefits from the culture that blames everyone but them.
A girl says no to a dance & a boy shoots up a school, & rather than investigate the boy's culture, entitlement, privilege, or violence, we zero in on exactly how the *girl* could've handled things better when rejecting someone dangerous we have concrete evidence she was right to.

Trans people have inherent value. No more or no less than you.

They're good, bad, interesting, uninteresting, just like you.

They work, eat, watch TV, sleep. They have friends, families, neighbours just like you.

They're not scary, they're just people, they just happen to be trans.

Let them be.

I don't for a second think his will topple him.

And even if it does, the country that voted for him won't change and the party behind him will do worse.

Yes, but Trump isn't an authoritarian or dictator.....
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

People are REALLY misunderstanding this ruling.

No, religious schools are not unlawful. No, religious teaching in schools is not unlawful.

Christian education in state operated schools without a religious ethos is unlawful.

It's VERY specific and not the broad separation of church and state.
This is *absolutely not* what the UKSC has ruled.

The ruling is on how religious education should be delivered in those state schools that do not have an explicitly religious ethos given that many children come from non-Christian or non-religious families.

UK Supreme Court rules religious education in NI schools is unlawful and ‘indoctrination’
The DUP has said it will “continue to support the Christian ethos that underpins” Northern Ireland’s education system, after a court ruling on religious education.
