Learning about the world using thr information animals store inside their own bodies. It’s amazing what they have to tell us.
Does this even need commentary? To the people who said it was all just talk…it wasn’t. Are you going to stand up and say this isn’t what you voted for?

Trump says he’s ‘not joking’ about a possible third term
President Trump said Sunday he’s “not joking” about serving a possible third term, marking the second time in less than three weeks that he’s floated the idea. “…

If you have students from Muslim majority countries, even if you are not at an Ivy, and that student has never been at a protest, they need to read this and act accordingly. This is bad, bad.

Summary of the spin from Gabbard, Radcliffe, Patel, etc. during this hearing:

There was no classified info shared in the text group but also there needs to be a closed session to discuss the context of the chat but also there aren't specifics but also it's too detailed for the public.

A mess.

I saw the work by Olga Lautman and he findings were disturbing: Steven Witkoff was in Russia when he was added to the signal chat. Russia has infiltrated Signal and used against Ukrainians. Very possible they have the classified signal info:

It does make sense that the same people who delete the history of the Navajo code talkers would leak national security secrets in a group chat.

Most sly comment section comment on the Hegseth Signal debacle I’ve seen so far:

“You really can’t trust these DUI hires at all.”

I’m struck by the lack of reporting in the longterm future of the people sent to El Salvador. The US washed thier hands of them and paid $6mil for 1 year of detention. After that??? Is this potentially a forever sentence?

Anyone know the answer to this question?

For me, fighting fascism has nothing to do with thinking I’ll win. I don’t fight because there’s an inevitable outcome, I fight because I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t do something.

Say what you want, the guy knows how to make money (and keep it…he recently reneged on the Gates pledge). Probably the only advice I’d take from a billionaire is about how to make money…so I’m listening to him on this.

Oceans provide ~20% of animal
protein. Probably a bit less in the US, but still sizeable and not quickly replaceable.

These are wild animals, with populations that vary and can collapse. Making sure that that resource is doing ok is…kind of really important for a stable food supply.
The federal advisory committee I served on to advise NOAA on management of living marine resources has been shut down. It was established in 1971 and has advised ten presidential administrations of both parties. www.govexec.com/management/2...

It’s always about the meta-data, always.
A terrific question posed by @rarmy.bsky.social:

"Why are we mapping the entire DOD supervisory chain and sending it in an unclassified email to an inbox that lacks accountability in any meaningful way?"

Wow! Anyone with a soy allergy knows that soy sauce is hard to replace.

Coconut aminos can be coaxed with vinegar, salt, and perhaps fish sauce to work well, but it’s not simple.

This stuff just showed up at our local grocery store. Wow! What a revelation. Made with peas instead of soy.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Make that part clear when you ⬇️
I’m thinking we should spread this news about the firings at NOAA as far and wide as possible. Like cancer research, weather forecasting seems likely to be broadly popular across the political spectrum. apnews.com/article/nati...

This is soooo true. I drove my parents KIA EV6 this winter and it felt like I was 1 screen touch from an accident every time I wanted to switch the radio…though to be fair, the EV6 may have the worst interface of any car I’ve ever driven.
Hell yeah bring back those buttons
Next year, the EU will require cars to have buttons & dials -- not just touchscreens -- to get a top safety rating.

This is a great move. Drivers can fiddle with knobs & buttons without taking their eyes off the road, but they can't do that with touchscreens.

(Even better: Tesla will hate this)
