This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

Here are some of my horror girlies with some sprinkled lore in the alt text ✌️
A work in progress of a witch of nature, calling upon a soldier’s skin to “bloom” for her. The witch’s arm blooms as well, representative of her inevitable returning to the element she controls, the contract made with creation and the witch. She glides upon a bed of leaves and around her glows with a vibrant green, the color of the life she wields. In her hair blooms red chrysanthemums and her matched red hair begins to twist into roots as it gentle cascade down her body. The soldier is dropping a knife as he dies. Clearly lunging for the witch’s heart, his energy leaves his body with the blooming of his skin. Behind the petals reveals the withered husk of the man’s fingers the green “life” from his face is being syphoned to the witch’s outstretched hand. A rat fae stands in the pools of bright teal water. The creature is female, but with horrific added features. Rats crawl through her open belly and a crown of horns holds the eternal rat king. Their eyes glow red in the dim cavernous area. Do not be alarmed! This is a fae defense mechanism, and is common among the Anah fae. Anah are fae who protect animals and are usually nymphs who wander into civilized areas searching for furry friends to rescue. In this case, “Piper” found her way into the sewers, and began caring for the rats who were in need of her protection. Piper assumed this visage to ward off those who would try and poison her friends, or rid the under-city of its inhabitants. Skeleton Jamboree is the title of this piece. And though this is very loose it is one of my faves. At the center of this piece is a necromancer, who is playing a flute, summoning bones to dance for her. She wears a mask with owl eyes, representing the looming eyes of death, and crowning her headdress is a small screaming skull. The woman is necromantic power and her waist has a noose as a belt, perhaps revealing how she died, or the cost of perusing unlife. Though she displays no emotion, the skeletons who dance around her seem quite joyous. A painting I did recently. A snow fae, a bringer of winter. It is the first snow, and like a pupating insect she has yet to fully unfurl her wings. On the winter solstice, when night is at its heaviest, will her wings fully form, and the winter will take flight. But until then, she must feed. A winter faerie looks out to the left. She looks as if a mix between mantis and human, with bright wings that flow like fabric, and large eyes atop her head. Her hair is a void of dark blue, representing the veil that she crosses as winter takes root. The bright white shining from her back is the deep freeze that is yearning to shatter fall and grip the world in cold.
