The US government is totally audience-captured by a tiny faction of internet fascists, and spends huge amounts of time trying to impress them, dedicating official communications channels to barely-concealed in-group references, and making horrific, murderous policy decisions to thrill this group

There are obvious parallels to the decay of the legitimacy of democracy, but also this attitude has spread to people from all walks of life adopting a litigious mindset toward every opportunity to get something out of someone.

I bet there was a decades-long period where bicycles were much more widely used than horses for personal transportation, but it’s like taboo in America to talk about the utility of bicycles.
