There is no reasonable prison abolition. They can't answer the most basic question about their program
I‘m tired of being nice about this; “abolitionism” has had years to develop a non-idiot policy program and the best they’ve come up with is ”murder without even the pretense of juridical process.” And I am not nut-picking; this is all over abolitionist writing.

Every single person who liked this tweet was lying about Joe Biden's health. There's literally no principle that liberals/leftists believe in that won't be sacrificed for their immediate political interest.

Take this seriously, tell us which leftist should be locked up under this rule.
October 11, 2025 at 4:49 AM
Wonder if Jen Saki would invite you back if you said Biden should be in the Hague. He's infinitely more deserving of punishment than Noem
I said what I said.
IL Congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh: "I think Kristi Noem should have consequences. I think she should be tried at The Hague."

Black liberal woman casually revealing she dates racist white men. What's wrong with these people?
many years ago, someone I dated told me to my face that no one would hire them because they were "an old white guy". it took everything in me not to yell at them about the data I studied, moments I had experienced explicit hiring discrimination or the hiring + pay equity reports I had covered at CJR

The implication of this tweet is that antisemitism is a serious problem. There's no way to "care about antisemitism". It's fake. It doesn't exist. Jews are extremely privileged.
The admin that cites its concern about antisemitism to justify deporting students who write op-eds for Palestine, is now defending the German far-right party with a neo-Nazi wing, the party that calls for "moving beyond" Holocaust memory.

You know, because they care so much about antisemitism.

If he won the democratic nomination you'd vote for him. Don't act like you have red lines
richard hanania represents no significant constituency and brings no one with him to the party. the idea that it is "shrinking the tent" to try to render him verboten is very silly
April 29, 2025 at 9:53 AM
That's because you're an evil person who thinks the mass murder of Iraqis and Afghans matter less than Trump's mean tweets. These people all support the ongoing genocide of Palestinians and you're giving them credit for writing op-eds
April 27, 2025 at 7:45 AM
Not only will his preferred candidate win, you'll convince yourself it's fine to vote for them. Matt yglesias will feel infinitely more represented than the people who liked your tweet.
The constituency he's built will never hold an ounce of power in this country ever again, and he'll be remembered like Thomas Midgley Jr.

The American government and society is evil. Being treacherous to it is a noble act. The truth is trump is it's most loyal leader it's ever had. He represents America more than will stancil
It’s treasonous, full stop. Siding with the foreign regime holding Americans hostage over the American government
April 6, 2025 at 12:53 PM
Not only will there be another election, democrats will win in both 2026 and 2028. Trump will leave office peacefully and die in 10 years in Mara Lago
March 29, 2025 at 2:55 AM
Meaningless. Canada is anti trump, they love America and are completely dependent on us. When Trump's out in 2028, you won't remember any of this
I still don't think Americans appreciate the degree to which Canada is in the midst of a total anti-American vibe shift.
March 28, 2025 at 6:49 AM
I wish you had the same principle for anyone who supported the Iraq war. But I guess you couldn't pretend there are good people on the right if you adopted that. A million Iraqis or Trump's tweets? Who can tell which is more important
i am pretty much 100% through with the idea of trusting anyone on the center-right that has not been consistently NeverTrump
Nobody would listen to Reihan Salam on his show and be like “oh here’s a truly noxious dude looking to do massive damage to America.” Same with Brendan Michael Dougherty. I think Ezra thinks what they want is harmful, but it doesn’t come across in the conversations.
March 23, 2025 at 10:18 AM
Hanania is def top 10 most racist people in America. I will oppose the abundance agenda at all costs just for that appearance
incredibly eye-opening to see which of my ostensible peers have decided to treat hanania like he's anything other than the worst gutter bigot
Flabbergasting how quickly Hanania redeemed his image from Racist Creep With Racist History Still Tweeting Racist Shit as of 2022 to Serious Person Serious People Treat Seriously.
March 23, 2025 at 10:13 AM
Im becoming a NIMBY just because of this. Fuck the abundance agenda.
What did I think the payoff of the whole Abundance marketing push could be? Influencing blue and purple state elites to enact reforms that meaningfully fix their governance.

Associating Hanania with that push just torched the entire project from day one, just massive self-sabotage
March 23, 2025 at 9:46 AM
And Yet the bush admin is still worse. What does that say about liberals rehabilitating him?
March 20, 2025 at 6:21 AM
You aren't anything. If your audience was transphobic you'd pander to them. You lost your place in the Republican party and realized liberal dollars pay the bills just as well.
I’m neither young nor woke. In fact I’m kind of a stick-in-the-mud. A few weeks ago, I was at a dinner that included Sarah McBride. We had a pleasant time and interesting conversation. It wasn’t at all a burden to treat her with decency and respect. Republican members of the House might try it.
March 12, 2025 at 8:34 AM
Lol, so you admit he's a liberal and we're supposed to think there's been some change? This guy has never vote Republican but we have to take his opinions seriously because he's old and loved in Oklahoma

That's all there is to it. Stop trying to byyourownlogic conservatives. They understand their values better than you ever will.
Masculinity is about having power over women. That's the only constant across time. Everything else — the personal habits, the aesthetics, the consumer preferences — is ever-shifting and internally contradictory.
... But by this point it is really clear that behaviour I consider to be petulant, irrational, whiny, self-pitying, and contemptible are by them viewed to be expressions of peak masculinity. I genuinely can't tell what is happening here, I am really not sure where the disconnect has arisen or why.

American chattel slavery is way worse than anything the Nazis did. More victims, longer duration, way more of a lasting effect, no reparations. A confederate's hatred for Nazis is rooted in xenophobia, not moral revulsion. Likewise, the Iraq war is infinitely worse than anything trump has ever done.
March 1, 2025 at 9:30 AM
I'm glad the Atlantic isn't like that
Feels like we are entering an era where the hushed conversation in a lot of (all-white) media boardrooms is, in careful euphemism, “we’re not hiring black people in major roles anymore” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/23/b...
MSNBC Cancels Joy Reid’s Show in Major Shake-Up
Ms. Reid’s 7 p.m. program will be replaced by a panel show co-hosted by Symone Sanders Townsend, Alicia Menendez and Michael Steele.

95% of people have no idea how the food they eat is produced. 8 year old children in 1768 knew more than I do. We're so privileged to live at the time we do.

Jamelle bouie would endorse literally any democrat over a Republican and he's talking about having principles. There's literally nothing a democrat could do that would make you not vote for them
yet another person failing the “have principles and not just narrow ideological goals” challenge
Ryan grim feeling happy about US saber rattling over Greenland, bc it's smol bean imperialism

What a disgusting way to describe apartheid. It was a brutal white supremacist state, calling it white privilege is liberal bullshit to undercount it's reprehensible crimes against Africans
As 2022 NY Times article notes about Musk: he was raised in apartheid South Africa in “elite, segregated white communities that were littered with anti-Black government propaganda." www.nytimes.com/2022/05/05/w...

Unless you have a concrete solution or idea that would plausibly improve this situation, it's better to pretend it doesn't matter. Free speech is good and misinformation experts are hacks who will never admit to believing false things due to their ideology.
Still wild to me that so many "savvy" folks on left and right have bought into the idea that online misinformation is overblown and doesn't really matter. From lies about migrants to transgender people to crime to election denial to climate denial, it's literally driving our country's politics.

This is not true. Segregation was a system of separation and ritualized subjugation. Nonwhites were domestic workers, in public spaces, and select folks were given voting and other privileges. The south would not have been able to function if separation was total.
That is ahistorical. Segregationists explicitly favored the removal of ALL non-whites from white spaces. That is why they called *themselves* segregationists.

Show me a DEI proponent who demands all non-whites be fired from white-owned companies and I'll agree the label fits that person.
