Why would hospitals close? Is there any evidence that hospitals close in public healthcare systems?
How much are you going to pay doctors?

Which current hospitals get shut down ?

What happens if doctors opt out of the system ? Who is going to invest in new curative therapies. You ?

How much in taxes pr year do you think it's possible to collect if you took every penny from billionaires?
Half the amount that everyone currently pays could provide universal healthcare. Private health companies don’t need to exist. Eliminate them. And use your collective buying power and economies of scale to get it done. Every cent of their profit is healthcare denied.

This is bad, but I also think it’s incumbent on the publishers to check that each reference is real. Peer review can check for soundness of methods and ensure that the conclusions follow from the results. It should be the publishers who need to check that the references are correct.
Fake references should lead to academic sanctions for the researchers involved, from both industry as well as from institutions. It needs to happen now, before every norm of academic integrity ends up sacrificed on the altar of production.
I’m sorry, but it is disgraceful to be an academic who uses this technology to conduct research. It should be prohibited in all of our scholarly institutions, including universities and journals.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

People often want simple answers to the question of why transit is worse in North America (US especially) than other places. A transit agency voluntarily slowing it’s trains down for dubious “safety” benefits, as the government bans speed cameras says a lot.

Next time a publication publishes a piece about "ideological diversity" simply google if they have any trans writers or editors on staff (they don't)
I've said this before, but so-called ideological diversity only runs rightward, and it never means arguing about economics or something. I already know the conservative position on, for instance, my existence. I'm not going to snap out of being trans because seventeen more people call me a man.

The other part of this is that mistakes have consequences. If a an agent of the US mistakenly brought Abrego Garcia to El Salvador, they should face commensurate consequences for their actions.
Either the U.S. government *is* able to exert monetary and diplomatic pressure on El Salvador sufficient to produce Abrego Garcia’s release, or it isn’t.

The latter would be either a bald-faced lie or a pretty stunning concession of our national impotence. The Vice President should pick one.

Whether it's students at Oberlin complaining about banh mi or administrators at NYU cancelling a speech for fear of offending Donald Trump, both schools have fraught relationship with freedom of expression.
NYU canceled a planned speech by the former president of Doctors Without Borders because she planned to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and cuts to US AID.

This is what actual campus censorship looks like.

With such a bold claim, you would think there would be more evidence that progressives are removing books from libraries. Instead we are told about one school board decision which sparked an outcry and was reversed by the premier immediately. This isn’t the same as US Republicans’ book banning.
“Whether it's for progressive values or for conservative values, we should not be treating libraries as simply the PR department for the kind of ideology that we believe in, and trying to ban everything else.” - Ira Wells, author of “On Book Banning”
