the single most important element of a hotel shower is being able to test the water temperature with your hand without standing under it and it’s mind boggling to me when a hotel fails that test

It's legitimately interesting to me that we're now in the era where people have to question whether or not something is AI or not, but it's still also hilarious(?) to me that we're inevitably going to see a bunch of false AI accusations as well.

The timeline weird-ening continues! 🤡
People who don't like my music 10 years ago:

"This sucks"

People who don't like my work now:

"This is just AI slop"

Listen buddy I proudly make my slop on my own. I don't need AI to disappoint you. 😘

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

I think part of the lure of these chatbots is the illusion that there's an easily accessible answer to every question. I'm a busy man, just tell me what the best laundry detergent is, and also whether climate change is real

If you buy your sandwich for the day instead of making it at home you're costing yourself about £25 a week. £1300 a year. Over ten years that's £13000!

Which isn't anywhere near enough for a house deposit so people who bought their house in 1995 should stfu and let you yum up your sandwich.

“A consumer rights expert has explained what you can do if your hotel on a foreign holiday refuses to serve you a full English breakfast.”

Surely this is satire making fun of the English, right

Right
Your rights if a hotel refuses to serve English food on a foreign holiday
A consumer rights champion has explained the rules after one woman had to eat Greek food every day on her Greek holiday

I went to the park to film some water textures with a fancy ultra slomo camera, but got distracted by ducks, so here is some very wholesome content of ducklings having a great time chasing lil bugs in extreme 900fps slow motion:

An astronomy professor colleague of mine once relayed trying to explain to his students why it was important that they actually write their class reports themselves. “The point is not to teach ME about neutron stars,” he said.
Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

Anyone else think it's mildly absurd that the american political right is just Gamergate?

Like, seriously having an axe to grind with furries to the point that you're making laws about it, what the fuck. Might as well be outlawing trekkies.
The "F.U.R.R.I.E.S ACT" bill from Stan Gerdes (R-Smithville) would prohibit "non-human behavior" in Texas schools, including but not limited to:

-Litterboxes
-Tails
-"Leashes, collars, other accessories designed for pets"
-"Barking, meowing, hissing, or other animal noises"
-"licking oneself"

Too many people want permission to play and like a game. They want an authority figure to say “you must play this and you’re a real gamer if you do” rather than “hey check this out”

This might come across as more than a little blunt, but please bare with me. A lot of people completely dismiss or even hate indie games and what's being unsaid here is they want is something mainstream from major studios with advertising and popular enough that the zeitgeist allows them to play it.
I see people saying this sort of thing often, and quite frankly it makes me sad. The truth is, more people are making good adventure games now than were ever made during the “golden age” of the 90s. For example: 🧵
