In extremely unsurprising news, Shoppers Drug Mart and other large pharmacy chains continue to pressure pharmacists to churn out low value MedsChecks on the public dime.
Shoppers Drug Mart billed $81M for MedsChecks in 2 years when COVID services waned https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/shoppers-drug-mart-medscheck-billing-9.6981970

He would have to be capable of self reflection and he isn't capable of anything except stoking rage and anger

There was enormous attention on Doug Ford's World Series Ad.
Much less attention on his CDN ad.
Doug is promising to rip up "red tape" to get at the Ring of Fire ore bodies.
People in the region have gone 30 years without drinking water. He refuses to meet them.

I worked downtown at the time (in the Market) and that was the weirdest day.

A cpl Canadian things made me proud:
1) all shooter could get his hands on for the attack was an antiquated rifle
2) the news coverage was sober and cautious and didn't report anything until confirmed
On this day in 2014, Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a member of the Ceremonial Guard, was fatally shot at the National War Memorial. The shooter ran inside the Parliament Buildings and was shot by RCMP officers and died on scene. Three others were injured in the attack.

Infuriating and tragic, tho, that shooter had basically been screaming for help for years and the system failed him completely

And god bless the random passerby who held Cpl Cirillo and did her best to comfort him as he died, thinking about that still makes me cry

Dismantling of civilization
I thought then and I still believe that tearing out railroad tracks was one of the stupidest, most short-sighted things this country has ever done
Canada nation built (and built and built and built) until the 1970s, then began the great dismantling. I'd pin it to Mulroney era when rails were ripped out across country & Chretien/Harris pulling out of housing funding/backstopping. Canada Post stuff is just another dismantling moment.

Super proud of the Canadian women's rugby team.
They never stopped. They never gave up. Right to the end.
I have always wondered why rugby isn't one of our national games?
Canadian women showed us how it's done.

No nation that is not a signatory to the International Criminal Court or a part of the WHO or the Paris Agreement to combat climate change, or that invites war criminals to speak on their soil should host the headquarters of the United Nations.
Please suggest a more appropriate location for the UN.
