Something wonderful for the weekend!

About 40,000 years ago, during the #IceAge, an ancient artist skilfully sculpted this tiny head of a cave lion from mammoth ivory. It is one of the World’s oldest known works of figurative art.

I wrote today about why creators are losing the AI copyright battle.

✅ We’re winning in the courts.
✅ We’re winning in public opinion.
❌ But the risk is governments changing the law.

Creators need to organize.

Artist’s painting of an acrobatic dancer, c. 1292 - 1077 BC.

Away from the constraints of formal tomb art, an ancient Egyptian artist chose to spend their free time painting this beautiful image on a limestone flake.

Wow, a 3,400 year-old ancient Egyptian paint box containing its original pigments!

Looks similar to a modern-day set!

An inscription tells us it belonged to Amenemope, Vizier during the reign of king Amenhotep II. 📷 The Cleveland Museum of Art www.clevelandart.org/art/1914.680

This image of Mercury was taken yesterday.

The joint ESA/JAXA BepiColombo mission snapped this photo during its sixth and final flyby of Mercury; it will enter orbit at the end of 2026.

And fun fact: the plain shown by the arrow, Mearcair Planitia, was named by me.
