The reason these people have been attacking scholars and universities is that they stand in the way of the ahistorical bullshit they need to spew in order to construct white Christian nationalism
The Rubio speech really is appalling, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.

‼️🇺🇦 Ukraine has reportedly gained more ground on the Zaporizhzhia front in just a few days than it managed during the entire 2023 counteroffensive.

The development suggests a possible shift in momentum and increased operational tempo in this sector.

Fighting in the area remains ongoing.

Musk is a malevolent force in American life, driven by white nationalism and incredibly influential given his obscene wealth. He's a supervillain.

But people get that. He's deeply unpopular, with an approval rating in the mid-30s with Trump. We just need political leaders willing to take him on.
We must speak plainly about the agenda Elon Musk & other MAGA leaders are pushing. It’s white nationalism.

There’s no room for Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native, Jewish or all other Americans in Musk’s monocultural vision.

Multiculturalism is superior. We can’t allow Musk & others to end it.

I know this guy has the brain of a not-real-bright dog - say, an aging beagle that is no longer food motivated enough to trick into getting off the couch - but to throw in *the Irish* as part of America's "origin" is...yeah man we get it, just say White.
1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.

Shock around Rubio speech seems a variation of same delusion that led legacy media to inaccurately declare it a softer touch, as if Rubio, a Latino man who once disputed Trumpism, is an alternative voice. He’s not. He joined fascism; now he’s a fascist; he gave a fascist speech, because fascism.

If you tend to chicken out, probably avoid "If I had legs..."
I keep clicking on Hamnet and then chickening out every time I see the kid in the trailer, even though I read the book 😭
2025 was an awesome movie year. I especially loved the "mom movie" trifecta of Die my love, Hamnet, and If I had legs.

Trump has lost the culture. But what if the universal conventional wisdom—that he won the culture in the first place—was never true? What if our warped media environment, then Trump's victory, created an illusion of MAGA cultural dominance that is now slipping. This is a long one, so strap in.

This is a big f-ing deal.
In an extraordinary rebuke of Trump, and his signature economic policy, the House voted tonight to repeal Trump's tariffs on Canada 219-211.

Both the Senate and House have now voted to repeal Trump's tariffs on Canada.
