Biggest hope for my future on Blue Sky: reconnecting with local SF happenings.

I really did miss you all.
What is all the thumping going on in SF right now? Sounds like rhythmic fireworks.

My toxic trait is that I want my skull exhumed a few years after I die so my children can put it on their desk and remember their own mortality.

The now discredited “conflict thesis” of the relationship between science and religion is pretty entrenched in the popular imagination.
Starting my Sunday by learning that the trial against Galileo was more about Counterreformation entrenchment of a conservative understanding of aristotelianism than about biblical literalism & that there were forces inside the Vatican who tried to avoid this epochal image disaster, but failed.
The first new #HoPWaG podcast episode of the year: Galileo faced persecution from the church over his Copernicanism. What philosophical issues were at stake? Join me to find out...

Nosferatu’s portrayal of the relationship between humanity and evil is deeply resonant with Christian thought.

I suspect that if you got in a time machine and showed this film to a 5th century Egyptian Christian monk he/she would probably nod knowingly and say “that about sums it up.”

One time I asked ChatGPT to give me some quotes from a historical figure and it kept giving me paraphrases it was passing off as quotes.

Only after I asked it for exact citations did it admit they weren’t real quotes. I told it over and over not to paraphrase, and it agreed, but it never stopped.
Well this is grim

The 22 remains a top-shelf line.
A half-block at a time, the eastbound 16th Street transit-only bus lane in San Francisco is taking shape.

The 22-Fillmore will use this section between Guerrero and Dolores, but east of the Mission Street BART station it will also be used by the 33, 55, and Chase Center event shuttles as well.

I have lived in CA for 4 years and never felt a quake. When I was moving here from the east coast, I traveled from Florida up to NC for a brief visit before heading west.

While I was in NC, they had an earthquake. NC does not have earthquakes.

My luck is weird.

Never mind that Stanford isn’t even in San Francisco, Conservative clickbait sites would have a field day with a headline like this.
JUST IN: The 26-year-old man taken into custody in connection with the fatal New York City shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has ties to San Francisco, according to New York City police officials.

This is a breaking news story. We will update as more information becomes available.
Police: Suspected UnitedHealthcare CEO shooter has ties to S.F.
The man suspected of killing the CEO of UnitedHealthcare has ties to San Francisco, police officials said.

Bilbo Baggins did not start writing 'There and Back Again' until after he went on an adventure at age 50. He didn't finish it until he retired to Rivendell after his eleventy-first birthday party.

You have time. There is no expiration date on writers.
I started being regularly published when I was 25. I didn't make my first dollar writing until I was 30. I didn't sell my first novel or screenplay until I was 35. Many of you hadn't even heard of anything I'd written until I was over 40.
