Our new paper in Ecology Letters, led by Jan Divรญลกek, shows that non-invasive alien plant species that successfully establish within local plant communities tend to resemble the resident native species. In contrast, invasive alien species usually differ from native plants.

apply to other fields in ecology? agree that some cultures are more dominant than others and other cultures may not be prevalent or the norm. Also agree that being aware of which culture one was trained/ collaborate in can help be aware of creative new directions for scientific transculuralism

Thank you for the kind words. The temporal aspect is interesting - we did discuss this quite a bit. Variance culture likely is the first step but a case could be made that the other cultures are also present early on depending on the field. An important follow up!
