In an airport and overheard a guy loudly being proud of owning stock in a company that makes prosthetic limbs because he works for a munitions manufacturer.
I’ve been on this trip for 45 mins and I need a fucking shower.

@laphamsquarterly.bsky.social has a podcast that did a 2 hr episode late last year about Q and Ish (as a couple we should be referring to them as Quish, by the way) being in love. Check it out.
📖🐳
Episode 17: Queequeg and Ishmael in Love (with Alexander Chee, Aaron Sachs, and Caleb Crain)

A family friend went to Planned Parenthood in Bellingham WA today to get birth control pills and was shouted at over a bullhorn by protesters on the sidewalk. It's 2026 and women still get yelled at when getting healthcare.

In case anyone else is considering punishing themselves by attempting Joyce's Ulysses (like I am.)

It's the full text but with COPIOUS notes with links inline that come up in popups so you can read the notes on the same 'page' as the text. It even repaginates based on the most common editions.

This video is a funnier send up of corporate culture than anything Scott Adams ever dreamed of in his tiny, cold philosophies.

This is also the video I use to explain to family what I do for a living as a project and portfolio management consultant.

I love that my wife and I (together 40 years this October) have a relationship where I can walk up to her when she's wearing a tank top and say "Let me see them" and she poses bodybuilder-style to flex both biceps because he is a fitness badass.

Hey, #booksky and 📖! Lapham's Quarterly is preparing for it's new incarnation at Bard College by having a HUGE sale.
I highly recommend this wonderful, quarterly journal that draws art and writing from across time to fit that issue's theme.
Check it out.

Scott Adams' passing reminds me that truly good people don't have to 'find god' on their deathbeds. Good people live their lives in a way that doesn't require last minute, emergency graspings for salvation. Their lives themselves were testimonies of why such salvation was not required.

Timeline Cleanse
Many years ago an elderly man was staring at sprouts in the supermarket...for so long that I asked him if he was ok...
"I love these, but I haven't had them since my wife died, I don't know how to cook them".
I told him how. He hugged me and bought the sprouts...
It's so easy to do good...

6/6 LOL
Technically I'm an elder millenial, but this was so relatable, especially I still have problems with being honest when I'm not fine. Fine is the only acceptable answer, and I still catch myself judging others for being "whiny" or "negative" or "complaining too much" www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXPf...

My favorite Twitter prompt was "RT this with your home river," so reskeet this with your home river.

OK, chapter 47 is just a long double entendre, right?

He's not even being clever about hiding it. LOL

"...and as Queequeg standing sideways, ever and anon slid his heavy oaken sword...drove home every yarn."

5 years since I lost my friend Colby Africa. A giant of a software engineer and a world class problem solver taken from us too early.
He also introduced me to John Digweed, Sasha, Kruder and Dorfmeister and others so today I will be listening to late 90s techno\house music on repeat in his honor.

Is anyone interested in a March group read of Dickens' Great Expectations? It would be a nice, leisurely read with the heaviest day being about 16 pages.

Seriously, unpin the Discover feed, it’ll save you at least one jumpscare a week when Bluesky yeets you onto it on load
Serious word of advice to newbies. The Discover Feed. Never use it. Waste of time. The Following Feed is what you need; all the posts from the people you follow in the order they posted them.

I recommend removing the Discover Feed by clicking on the # in the top right to manage your Feeds list.
