OK. When I was a kid my aunt worked at Seattle animal control and they had rules about how long strays could stay before they had to be put down. So ones with kittens would get their papers pulled and they'd live at my house until they could be adopted.
One time a litter came in with a baby raccoon.
A guy trained me for my new gig and listened to me be happy about how I'd been out of work for a bit and how this new gig was a life saver.
I found out today that he only left this job because he'd taken a job with the client company specifically so the client could end the contract.

One of my neighbors has been putting up these fish facts posters. All kinds of different fish, marine, freshwater, deep, shallow, all kinds. This is a good one. “Stg this real fish” took me out. Good work, neighbor.

The finest Spinal Tap reference of its generation!
I started out trying to ignore the Olivia Nuzzi saga, but it turns out I can’t resist incredibly bad writing that doesn’t realise how much it sounds like parody. So now I’m fully in. Give me more like this. I might even read her book bsky.app/profile/nikk...
hands down my favorite line from a book that provides no value add to the written word besides being, possibly, the most narcissistic memoir ever put to paper.

This is actually a VERY different thing. "In Progress" is not the same as "Shipped." If they said "Your shipping process is in progress" then that would be fine and accurate.
Me opening the file DOES in fact mean my task is in Progress. I did NOT mark the task as Completed.
ME: they shouldn't be able to say 'your order has shipped' when they've just created a label. That's not shipped.
ISAAC CHOTINER: so, you've never claimed to have a task underway when you've merely opened the file?
ME: that's not-
CHOTINER: in this Teams message to your boss, you said-

I have a daughter that is 27 and works in a coffeeshop. She texted me a photo of a CD that was being played in the shop and asked if I'd ever heard of them as they were good and seemed like something I might like.
It was Kruder & Dorfmeister's DJ Kicks. :-)

Oh, Honey, yes. I've heard of them. LOL

Well, it's Christmas season so we are all left to, once again, try to figure out what the hell a "new old fashioned way" is.

I've said it before...If your 'protected bike lane' is 'protected' with something that DOESN'T cause severe body or tire damage to cars then it's not 'protected,' it's DECORATED.

We need more heist movies.
Remember when we had a whole decade that seemed to be just laden with them? Oceans 11, 12, 14 (and then 8), The Italian Job, etc.

We need more light hearted thievery in our cinemas and in our hearts!

An important thing to remember when reading news stories or press releases is that if someone uses the word "countless" that is them trying to make sure you think that the number is VERY, VERY high when in reality all it means is that they didnt bother to count. Nothing is 'uncountable'

Anyone that derides BSky as an 'echo chamber' is assuming that you are here to get into arguments with strangers.
If you are here to argue with strangers then they have a valid point.

If you are here to look at art and book discourse then you dont care about political echos.

Always remember that there will always be a solid 30ish% of people that are willing to support policies that will cause them direct harm IF they can be convinced that those same policies will harm a group they hate even a little bit more than them.

That is Trump and Brexit explained, right there

Plus you get to watch Gary Oldman play the most amazing dirtbag ever.
Finally watching the first season of Slow Horses. Hubs is not a fan…but then he doesn’t like mystery or thrillers the way I do.

Reminds me of an old boss of mine that would go absolutely APE SHIT crazy if a server said "No Problem" as the answer to a request. His reasoning? "Well OF COURSE it's 'not a problem' because IM THE CUSTOMER! NOTHING should be a 'problem."

You can be an old man and not be LIKE THIS GUY.
AN OLD MAN RANTS: increasingly coming across waiters chummily asking ‘what have you been up to this morning?’ while taking a lunch order or ‘any plans for the rest of the day?’ Obv they mean it kindly. But JUST STOP IT. You don’t know if I’ve been to a funeral, or am going for a prostate exam 1/2

Im 80% through the 2250 page, 900,000+ word Liberation Trilogy by Rick Atkinson about the North African and Western European theaters of WWII and at this point I don't even like reading it anymore. I just keep reading because I refuse to let this thing beat me.
