The end times are upon us. I don’t know which is worse: this 👇 or the US deregulation of experimental nuclear reactors 😵‍💫
1. The thing about science that these jokers don't understand is that science cannot be vibe-coded.

Whatever its flaws, the point with vibe coding is that you're trying to quickly make something that sorta works, where you can immediately sorta see if it sorta works and then sorta use it.
“The idea is to put ChatGPT front and center inside software that scientists use to write up their work in much the same way that chatbots are now embedded into popular programming editors.

It’s vibe coding, but for science.”

AI leading to spamming of every public repository of human knowledge you can think of is a huge problem and so far I've seen zero good solutions

This is even starting to happen to open source projects and Karpathy just predicted it's going to happen to GitHub itself
We’re getting so many journal submissions from people who think ‘it kinda works’ is the standard to aim for.

Terrifying 😬
Experts who reviewed these rules told me the little changes mattered.

"Anywhere they have changed 'prohibited' or 'must' to 'should be' or 'can be' — that is a loosening of regulation. That's a big change in words, in meaning," Emily Caffrey told me.

EXCLSUVIE: The Trump administration has secretly rewritten nuclear safety rules and shared them with the companies they're meant to regulate, without making the new rules publicly available.

We've obtained a copy of the new rules and here's what we found.

The rewrite was done to speed up the construction of a new generation of nuclear reactors. Critics warn it could compromise safety and public trust.

This is happening! An NH friend of mine lives just across the river from Maine and works over there sometimes. He said the locals are already picking out ICE agents at restaurants and bars, on the streets and at stores to berate them and run them off. Mariners will just say people are "from away"
Hey, let’s go to Maine in the dead of winter, a time of year that certainly won’t make us more recognizable to a populace that has the ability to spot an out-of-stater from 500 yards away.

that's not how anything works they're lying and destroying evidence hope that helps
And what is happening inside ICE detention centers? 404 Media also learned that the federal government claimed that the day after it was sued for allegedly abusing detainees at an ICE detention center, a “system crash” deleted nearly two weeks of surveillance footage from inside the facility.
ICE Says Critical Evidence In Abuse Case Was Lost In 'System Crash' a Day After It Was Sued
The government also said "we don't have resources" to retain all footage and that plaintiffs could supply "endless hard drives that we could save things to."
