an oppressed people have a hard time constituting themselves into a functioning state. we dont have to reach back into reconstruction, just look at how hard it was for america to build a state in Afghanistan or Iraq where you had a vast pop that should nominally welcome power but didnt use it

The difference between Harper having a real job for a bit and these guys just ascending into politics straight from Young Conservatives at uni is right there. One guy had to live in reality; these are just bubble-wrapped from 16 years. That Jinglai kid will be an MP in 3 years.

I think if he were smarter, he would have used native reconciliation as a way to deal with municipalities and provinces dragging their feet on housing costs. Take the Squamish model Canada wide, but at the end of the day hes just a pretty dumb guy, so another wasted opportunity.

thats not necessarily true; it could be that the more progressive piece of the Liberal vote in '25 moved back to NDP now that it seems PP as a spent force and the suburban red tory is more comfortable with Carney than Maple MAGA
