Politics has never been about policy. Controlling through fear and making people uncomfortable. Even social advancements were done out of making establishments fear rebellion or loss of profit. Appealing to benevolence rarely works unless you're affected, nastily.
back in my day politics wasn't about being nasty it was about being a Policy Wonk and trying not to sound too much like the Orson Welles ferris wheel speech from The Third Man when describing the societal role of government

I am less than enthusiastic about the Super Bowl for so many reasons. The main being I don't want either team to win. Another is I'm just exhausted.
