There are some folks bringing up that it's not actually a rule change, but even if it's not a rule *change*, I and others still assumed postmarks were done automatically at the initial place received.
That we didn't know that was allegedly already not the case is also a problem.

ADHD people? It's not an April 15th tax deadline, it's an April 8th deadline. And in your tax day reminder that you should add to your calender right now, also include a link to the below article that does state the three methods of having a postmark when you send it. Just in case.
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.
