@sfdirewolf.bsky.social My wise and amazing and beautiful and strong and wonderful and kind friend Alice. An advocate for all of us. Thank you for lighting your incredible path and for showing everyone how to move in awe striking community and solidarity. We love you. Rest in power.

This being the last post Alice made for herself makes me incredibly sad. We need more spaces for us. We need more places where voices like Alice’s are uplifted so that others can learn from the wisdom that needs to be shared.
It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Alice Wong was one of the most effective people challenging the Whiteness of disability communities and its many flaws, but who believed fiercely in us as a community, in disabled people as oracles.

Alice brought so much to so many of us, it’s hard to measure the kind of gratitude I have for that.

This hurts.
The irony here is painful.

Alice Wong wrote a column for Vogue called Disability Visibility. You can still find all her writing for Vogue under her author name.

But *Disability Visibility* - also the name of the advocacy group she launched - has been erased.

Exactly how disabled people often are.
The new owners of Teen Vogue have already erased her column.

Pretty sure his voters don’t know where Nigeria is much less talked about it in any exit polls. I don’t even know he knows where Nigeria is.
Trump says we are preparing to invade Nigeria. Apparently that’s what voters said they wanted in the exit polls. Trump: “We’re going to do things to Nigeria that Nigeria’s not gonna be happy about. Guns-a-blazin!”

“[Mamdani’s] presence wasn’t performative. It was pastoral. In a city that so often divides its grief by identity, he crossed the invisible line and simply showed up.”

I could respect Levi's heir Rep. Dan Goldman backing Myrie for mayor, but for a Rep from Manhattan to go on TV 3 days before early voting and say he doesn't know who he'll vote for.....? Yikes. We could've had @yuhline.bsky.social!
Kasie Hunt: You have yet to endorse Zoran Mamdani for mayor. Are you ready to endorse him?

Rep. Dan Goldman: I'm not ready to endorse him.

Hunt: Are you going to vote for him?

Goldman: I don't know what I'm going to do.
