Neuro friends: Any one ever try tract-tracing studies in the insula or cingulate (in rats or mice) and find a connection there? It keeps showing up in resting-state studies and outside of pIC to pACC inhibitory projections here (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37605272/), I can't find much else!
Inhibitory insula-ACC projections modulate affective but not sensory aspects of neuropathic pain - PubMed
The insula and anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) are brain regions that undergo structural and functional reorganization in neuropathic pain states. Here, we aimed to study inhibitory parvalbumin positive (PV+) posterior insula (pIC) to posterior ACC (pACC) projections, and to evaluate the effects of …

Been thinking for a few years about what I call the *replication ceiling*: the maximum replicability of an effect given constraints in data in which replication takes place (power, measurement error, sampling variability, etc). This leads to a maximum theoretical replicability which can be achieved.

Take a look at our paper! Led by @francimandi.bsky.social in the Lake lab: "Longitudinal, simultaneous wide-field fluorescent Ca2+ imaging and fMRI in awake mice" !!!!

Talking about spooky stuff…try to do awake mouse fMRI.
Oh, you want it spookier? Try to add simultaneous Ca2+ imaging.

Now, do it all again, longitudinally….

So proud to finally have this out!!!

Really interesting, brief ideas paper. Clearly relevant to treatment research-- the mechanism by which you leave an illness state is unlikely to just be the opposite of the mechanism by which you entered it (can see how this might apply to e.g. SSRIs in depression).
