CA pays 5x as much as they get back each year! I say they keep it and take care of their own. Since we are in an unprecedented world, let’s do unprecedented things. I don’t know how it would work, but I’d be willing to volunteer to figure it out.
Jeffries: It is unconscionable that Republicans are suggesting imposing right wing partisan conditions in order for California taxpayers to receive their tax dollars. California is one of those states that sends about five times as much to the federal government every year than they get back

They aren’t going to find $2T in waste.

They aren’t going to lower grocery prices.

They aren’t going to fix immigration.

They are however going to give themselves trillions in tax breaks, and pay for them by cutting Social Security and Medicare.

25 wealthiest Americans “saw their worth rise a collective $401 billion from 2014 to 2018. They paid a total of $13.6 billion in federal income taxes… it amounts to a true tax rate of only 3.4%.”

The median family paid a far, far higher rate on their incomes.

US’s inequalities in stark detail:
Between 2014-2018, Elon Musk's wealth grew by $13.9 billion but tax records obtained by @propublica.org show that during those same years he repeatedly paid relatively little (or nothing) in federal income tax:

2015: $68,000 in federal income tax paid
2017: $65,000
2018: $0

Vaccines are why 1 of every 4 of us didn't die in infancy.
Fluoride is why most of us keep our teeth into old age.
The ACA is why 21 million of us can see a doctor.
The FDIC is why we don't lose our life savings.

And a handful of GOP billionaires want to take it all away.

I wish we had a public facing dashboard, operated by a third party, that graded Reps and Senators on how they voted vs. how their constituents asked them to vote. Some sort of “Yelp” system for electeds. We need more transparency and we need to hold them publicly accountable.

Woke up very early with some thoughts as we watch this clown posse roll back into town:
(1) the way forward is through a pro-democracy coalition
(2) we made amazing progress building this coalition via the Harris-Walz campaign. We can build on that.

We’ve been explaining this for a long time now but it appears some folks need it repeated at them: when people have assessed trump is a threat to democracy, they generally do not mean “no election ever again,” they mean he clearly is openly intending to shred the democratic order as we know it…
