the thing about signalgate is that it’s a scandal hegseth was ever nominated for this job, a scandal that 50 senators and vp vance voted to confirm him, and a scandal trump didn’t fire him months ago

This is a) likely correct, say at least 50% odds, maybe more and b) sadly, almost certainly our best/only hope.
We will need to wait and see what happens with the tariffs case, and what the opinion actually looks like, but I think the court is actively hunting for easy "impartiality" wins so it can continue its calvin ball bs.

It's almost impossible to make me feel sorry for Trump, but the sheer depth of his brokeness, combined with his age, the utter humiliation involved in this farce was making me legit sad.

This, within the same 24-48 hour period that we learn that national parks will no longer be free on MLK Day or Juneteenth (but will be on Trump's birthday). If they were trying to prove they're white supremacists, what would they be doing differently?
It has long been clear that unalloyed racism lies at the core of Trumpism, and he is becoming increasingly explicit about this.

As Americans, we may no longer be able to say ‘this isn’t who we are’.

But we can still say ‘this isn’t who we should be’.

And whether it’s in the face of cruelty or corruption or hatred or indifference, we ought to repeat that mantra every day to remind ourselves of what we are fighting for.

Cartoonishly racist. Good on trump's interns and handlers for not even trying to hide it anymore.
"The Donald Trump administration has changed which holidays qualify for free entrance to national parks, removing two holidays celebrating Black people and adding the president’s birthday."
National parks change prioritizes Trump birthday over days honoring Black people
Free entrance days at national parks no longer include MLK Day and Juneteenth.

Authoritarian, right wing exec strong arming corporate leaders into a convergence with his government and using it for a propaganda photo op AND ranting vile bigotry against a minority group.

Textbook fascism.

This image will literally be in textbooks some day.
Trump, continued: "What the Somalian people have done to Minnesota is not even believable. It’s not even believable. And a lot of it starts with the governor. A lot of it starts with Barack HUSSEIN Obama, because that’s when people started coming in... They want to kiss our country good night."

His Somalia comments yesterday & today have been among the most foul things I’ve ever heard a public figure say publicly.

And he’s not talking about undocumented people (not that it’s ok but politics 🙄)… these are Americans! Just sickening stuff.

Gotta love the "women will sleep with hot guys but not me!" admission near the bottom. Gives away the ENTIRE game.

Yeah, attractive people have sex. Water is wet.

What does it say about this country that that the kind of open, rank bigotry Trump administration officials regularly express towards black immigrants apparently has no social cost because of the number of Americans who quietly agree or don't care.

It's great that reporting on the double tap has spotlighted the abject criminality of this Administration.

But don't forget: Venezuela is not waging war on America or Americans, and the men killed were not combatants.

The first strike was every bit as illegal as the second.

This is beyond grotesque. If it were a movie villain doing a monologue, the director would tell him to tone it down for the next take.
Trump ends the marathon cabinet ego-stroking session with a viciously racist rant about Somalians in Minnesota and Rep. Omar

He calls them “garbage”, “we don’t want them in our country”, Somalia “Stinks”, they “contribute nothing”, and “88% of Somalians get welfare” (a lie🤥 )

Dems release a video reminding troops of their responsibility to disobey illegal orders.

They’re called seditionists.

WaPo breaks the news that Hegseth said to kill survivors of a boat strike.

WH: “It wasn’t him! It was Admiral Bradley!”

This is why you disobey illegal orders

If the Venezuelan sailors were enemy combatants, then the 2nd strike is a war crime.

If the Venezuelan sailors weren’t enemy combatants, then both strikes are criminal murder.

It’s that simple.

Me: Trump is evil. Like mediocre Hollywood movie level evil.

You: shut up. T Derangement

Trump:
WHOA. Trump says he will pardon Juan Orlando Hernandez, who once said that he wanted to “shove the drugs right up the noses of the gringos.” He had people killed as part of his narco-trafficking ring, which he at times operated directly out of his presidential office.

To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing
