I want to remind you all that nonviolence in political action is not pacifism.
Nonviolence requires active resistance without choosing to use physical harm to control or oppress.
It doesn't imply that you can't defend yourself. It requires you to decide what self-defense is and when to use it.

I'll preface this with saying that I'm a liberal and think liberalism is good, but the mewling about training from so many Dems is an absurd example of liberal proceduralist pathology.

maybe an unpopular position on this website but i think the moderate dem focus on ICE training can be, with political pressure, the pathway to more fundamental reforms. rhetorically it is not too hard to move from “more training” to “turns out they’re untrainable and we have to start all over.”

I don’t count words every day.
I don’t even work on the same piece every day.
I do write every day, even if it’s just to get the ideas out.
I have tons of drafts: letters, blog posts, articles, and essays.
And that fellow beginners (I still consider myself one) is where you start.

Yesterday, I showed up anyway. Thought I’d write 200 words. Ended up writing 1k Glad I pushed through. Currently at 30k words in my WIP.

Pro tip: if you are feeling disgruntled at the state of the world, you can read Simon Garfield’s ALL THE KNOWLEDGE IN THE WORLD. A good read, although I now have a suspicious urge to buy another set of encyclopedias.

The conversations we have at the writers group I attend are often full of a kind of hilarity that is quite rare for me to experience when discussing complex issues that can seem absolutely ridiculous.
It’s not often I find moments when absurdity is acknowledged without being used to judge someone.

The media (and everyone else) need to stop referring to ICE as "law enforcement".
They are out to perform "ethnic cleansing" and to terrorize the population.
