🇨🇳 VIDEO: China's abandoned buildings draw urban explorers despite risks

Urban exploration, or "urbex" for short, is growing in popularity in China, where a years-long property sector crisis has left many cities dotted with empty buildings.

So happy for Arsenal even though both are my teams in Europe.
An almost example of how women sometimes suffer professionally from their humility: Arsenal Women manager Renee Slegers took over as interim and demurred about deserving the job permanently. She almost didn't get it, but her results were undeniable.

Today, her team are champions of Europe.

I wrote something about how we're seeing the rise of the online "alpha male." This is someone who speaks in clipped imperatives, squeezes into tight suits, and performs for our feed. They present a vision of masculinity shaped by politics, tech, and 100 years of cultural history 🧵

After Charlie XCX appeared on so many end of the year lists, I thought ok try. 5 seconds in nope. Also saw Cremaster at SFMOMA back in the day and it was exhilarating for a minute and then just tedious.
This happens to me all the time. "Oh, this is a fascinating interview. Wow, the visuals are amazing." *press Play* "Oh, it's just... pop songs. Never mind."
caught myself absolutely riveted to Lady Gaga's set streaming from Coachella last night. thought maybe I had become an overnight fan. today listened to Mayhem and, nope. her performance aesthetic is so interesting, her content is so basic. oh well.

A gobsmacking story. Water companies let toxic waste disposers, for cash, dump their loads into sewage farms. The sewage sludge is then spread, untested, on farmland, potentially poisoning vast areas, entire ecosystems and the people (you and me) eating the food.

What’s in the millions of tonnes of sludge sprayed on to farmland? The answer won’t make you happy | George Monbiot
Thanks to breathtaking negligence, the liquid fertiliser used to help grow our food bubbles with a lethal cocktail of toxins, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

A reminder from Kalen Dion:

"The holocaust was 'legal.' The slave trade was 'legal.' The genocide of the Native Americans was 'legal.' When evil holds power, laws are often immoral, and morals are often unlawful. Sometimes doing what’s right requires us to break the law."

Had this album on repeat in the house for the past week. The production quality is … chef’s kiss as they say. It’s hard to go after Laswell everything else sounded shrill or noisy in comparison. Now on headphones en route: 15-hour transit time to destination and 2 hours back. Indonesia is as such.

Honestly it will never be like it was and idk what others feel but imo i will also never have that kind of enthusiasm or optimism for this type of thing in general. I want less plurality not necessarily better quality.
There was a moment that BlueSky seemed really interested in trying to bring more journalists over here to be on the platform during the post-election surge.

What happened? This place has so much potential, still and it seems the foot is off the gas in terms of developing new features, etc.
