At some point, whether they want to or not, The Game Awards is going to have to reckon with the role it's played in the rampant corporitization of video games - and everything that's led to. And crucially, how the show and people behind it have failed to step up when it mattered.

Again, I'm not unsympathetic to budgetary realities. But people like me are going to notice if your outlet covers AI-driven layoffs, etc one minute, only to attribute your coverage of a foreign company's business dealings to a machine translator the next because the SEO hit was more important then.

It's admirable there's a (freelancer) review of Ark Raiders so unafraid to take it to task it makes billionaire CEOs squeamish, but I'll say it again: until outlets stop using machine translations to irresponsibly report foreign news, it's hard not to see any solidarity in coverage as disingenuous.

Keighley: Always came across as...slimy to me. "Shitty car salesman" slimy, maybe? Big reason I've not once watched his awards show.
PC speaker: I swear there was a Windows 3.x driver that allowed it to play sounds that way. Like, just enough for "multimedia" software of the time?

I was switching between Famicom & PCE/TG16 games and was annoyed at how PCE screens were shifted to the left compared to Fami. So I did some measurements: the Fami's active pixels start ~7.6us after the end of HSync while the PCE's can be 7.0us (early) or 8.47us (late), but never the same as Fami :/
