Media outlets who refuse to describe in plain terms what the president did because they find it objectionable are lying to their audiences and running cover for the president. It's as simple as that.
The president of the United States posted a video of him defecating on the American people. Many in my profession normalized it. This is a big reason why we are where we are.

Why should Black people turn up on Cinco De Mayo you may ask well…

“historian Justo Sierra wrote “had Mexico not defeated the French in Puebla, France would have gone to the aid of the Confederacy in the U.S. Civil War and the United States’ destiny would have been different”
The Black History Behind Cinco De Mayo | Essence
When the Mexican army defeated the French at the Battle of Puebla, it was a victory over white supremacy in North America.

Harper Collins didn't sign on to protect libraries. The other big four publishers (including my publisher, Penguin Random House) did. They are also part of the Murdoch empire.

Imagine being a publishing house and NOT supporting library funding.

I really want Target to be an example of what happens when you fuck around with black. Sadly they’re not crumbling fast enough for me. I need to see for sale signs.

Not the first person to make this observation, but it's so striking how the media covered the crack epidemic as a problem caused by black/urban drug users and the fentanyl epidemic as a problem imposed externally on white/rural drug users.

Vellum's newest update turns off Apple "AI" nonsense as a matter of course (users can turn it back on if they must, but who wants to?) and adds a Bsky field to the social media part of about-the-author pages.

I love this ebook formatting program, and the company has now roundly justified my faith.

I hate that Democrats feel compelled to make these sorts of magnanimous gestures while Republicans can appoint literal Klansmen and carnival barkers with no pushback from the media.

Trumpists embody the false beliefs of the late-19th/early-20th century about sexual violence: the threat of rape is to white women from non-white men. They will proudly support a rapist while using a fictional risk of sexual terror from immigrants for political gain. It's repugnant.

Last week, I had a chance to visit the Intuit Dome - the LA area’s newest stadium/concert venue - before it officially opened this weekend. It’s a beautiful facility (at $2 billion to build, it ought to be) and there’s lots to like about it.
