Here's a short comic I drew.
A comic strip. Panel 1: A guy in a gi is doing martial arts moves. Caption: This is Joseph Memo. He’s a student of martial arts. Panel 2: He practices Tri Ski. A system that combines Tai chi, sleight of hand magic, and the Stanislavski method. Panel 3: The main reason he joined is because the brochure told him it would "boost his self confidence by 72% (scientifically proven)." Panel 4: It seemed to work. Most of his classmates were friendly and the exercises made him feel connected not only to his body but to the world around him. Panel 5: He found himself eagerly looking forward to Tuesday night every week. The comic strip continues. Panel 1: Then during his first "mass sparring" match he was badly beaten. Panel 2: His nervous classmates and Strangely calm master assumed he was dead and not wanting to bring shame upon the school or legal complications on themselves, they dropped him into a dumpster in back of a nearby hospital. He woke up covered in bruises and medical waste. Panel 3: Every Tuesday since he healed, Memo attempts to return to the dojo, but doesn’t want to embarrass himself, his master, or his classmates by le+ting them know he's actually alive. Panel 4: He's contemplated disguises and cosmetic surgery, but usually Just practices alone in the drug store parking lot across the Panel 5: Unbeknownst to Memo, his classmates can see him clearly through the storefront window. They believe he is a ghost and it fills them with a guilt and terror that only reinforces their devotion to their lessons.
