I can defend this a bit. Reporters are trained to avoid making themselves the story, and to avoid letting the subjects of their interviews control the story. Taking Trump‘s bait could easily violate both of those rules. Snapping back would feel good, but it’s not good reporting.

Personally, I think blocking some AI legislation at the state level is a great idea, at least for interstate services. Implementing per-state policies for nation-wide websites is a huge burden.
Big Tech is plotting a $100M lobbying and campaign spending blitz to block AI regulation at the state and federal level.

Bah. Everyone at Marvel and DC knows how to solve this problem: Reboot! Start with young James Bond fresh out of training at MI6. They kinda already did this with Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. Everyone will understand. We don't watch the Bond movies for the character arc.

First of all, there’s no such thing as the Miracle Mile Shopping Center in Chicago. There is a shopping district called the Magnificent Mile. It’s not a high crime area, but like many central retail zones in the age of online commerce, it’s not doing very well.

It’s not just blatant crimes like this. I’ve seen rather a lot of sloppy gun handling by presumed ICE agents. I think most of them haven’t had much firearms training.

Has a shutdown *ever* worked? Has a minority party ever been able to leverage a shutdown to get legislative concessions from the majority? Not that I recall. I think the shutdown was always destined to end this way. Which is why it was a bad idea.

I'm glad Zohran Mamdani won the election. It's not that I'm a fan--he's a socialist loon, and socialism is bad--but I do enjoy how much he makes all the right people crazy mad. They've been doing it to me for a while, so I'm enjoying their pain more than I probably should.

Representative Higgins is right: Poor people wouldn’t have to worry about losing SNAP if they got off their lazy butts, drove to Costco, filled their SUVs’ cargo space with food, and unpacked it all into their deep freezers and walk-in pantries.
