Same - I now feel a mighty need to have my workspace look like the party room at a Discovery Zone
Gonna get this carpet for my office. I think it will cure my mental illness.

Once again, absolutely no one asked for these shitty prediction market apps to integrate with anything related to journalism, even if Substack has become the strange Nazi stepchild of journalism. But hey, line gotta go up, right?
Substack announces a partnership with Polymarket. “Journalism is better when it’s backed by live markets.”

Also I just learned we’re still having a State of the Union? We know what it is. It’s not great, Bob.

And forget about the Democratic rebuttal. Let me do the rebuttal. It will be an hour-long scream.

Drew calls out NBC’s abhorrent mid-action commercials here and as someone who also screeches the five thousand names of the Devil when these ads (aka affronts to God) interrupt in little split-screen boxes, I had to repost this.

Remember when real people wrote real articles on real blogs about real music made by real up-and-coming artists? That still happens on Start-Track, the next Pitchfork (but like, back when Pitchfork was still kinda good!) start-track.com

Worked in the ABC No Rio Zine Library for a summer and then some back in the early 2010s and it was one of the formative experiences of my life, and I wish I had archived some of their catalogue for posterity, so thank all esoteric beings that good folks are taking up the work.
Much of my youth revolved around the website ZineLibrary. It went down around Occupy in a massive loss for a movement whose ideas and knowledge mostly doesn't circulate online but in person.

Anyway I've put it back online with a *thousand* anarchist zines:

There’s a voice we all have that says “that can never happen to me” and the only way you can guarantee that to be true is never to use chatbots for anything. They will never get less persuasive, only more.

Start-Track’s Guide on How to Spot AI Music
AI music is fast food: Quick and cheap, and looks like real food, but at the end of the day is nothing more than slop meant for mass production and consumption...

I will say, first thought I had when the NBC commentators started talking about Ilia's performance was "Gosh, this sounds like Gary, Keith, and Ron when the Mets are down 10 runs to the Marlins."

Look, despite what any of the Olympics announcers are saying about Ilia Malinin right now, he can still skate a hell of a lot better than me. So I'm still amazed.

This is pretty craven from Watters and Gutfeld, but also, "Sex Rabbi" was my nickname in college, and I will *NOT* have that good moniker sullied by some sweaty pundits on state television.
Current state of things: One Fox News host casually declares that Epstein’s money comes from “Jewish billionaires” and a “Jewish banking family,” another responds that he was a “sex rabbi.” www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/jes...

Janeway said FAFO, also we’re gonna judge Ake for how she sits when Kirk would use the captain’s chair like his own personal modeling pedestal?
There are some Star Trek fans weirdly obsessed with “decorum” and they really fixate on how Holly Hunter sits in the captain’s chair on STARFLEET ACADEMY. One guy left a comment on the official FB whining about it and so Captain Janeway herself responded to drop the hammer

Deeply unserious people running this country. You should have watched the whole thing, Mark. You could've learned something!
Rep Mark Alford (R-MO) says House Rs are "investigating" Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show & talking with FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr. Alford says he didn't watch the whole thing & also doesn't know Spanish but suspects it might have been "much worse than the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction"
