“the EC means to strangle free speech by a systemic assault on US companies"

Am I in a minority by thinking that anything posted on any social media platform is more “controlled” speech than free speech?

Every post everywhere is controlled in the way it appears to others.

Everyone worried about #flooding in #Ireland right now should listen to Professor Mary Bourke on @news.rte.ie “Inside the Story” and then ask your politician why they don’t care about #ClimateChange 🌧️

James Browne is in FF. Instead of whinging that met eireann didn't give flood alerts he could get off his hole and look around at the lack of action that his party has taken on climate for decades.
There will be more severe, unpredictable flooding. Yet JB and FF are content to nothing

The BM catalogue says 'Tortoise, and separate view of a walled, coastal town in the Veneto' for this by Melchior Lorck, mid-16th century.

I'm sticking with giant flying tortoise myself.

This is so bloody frustrating 🤨 Why not refurbish what’s already there?! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Four derelict buildings in Mayo town are set to be demolished and turned into housing— Local authorities must ensure that our traditional streetscapes are redeveloped sympathetically, prioritising renovation over demolition to reduce our carbon footprint.

“Girl Going by Trinity in the Rain” (1959) by Una Watters - a wonderful recent acquisition by the @nationalgalleryirl.bsky.social

The Gallery is open for free every day, and on days like those depicted (such as today), it’s a lovely place to escape from the reality outdoors ☔️

Yet another reason that all European countries should be pivoting as fast as possible to renewable energy. Even if you don’t care about the climate, energy security (and the cost of energy) should be on your mind when you next vote ☀️

Europe is America's biggest customer for fossil gas exports, by a pretty decent margin. One hell of a time to be directly antagonising and alienating the key customer for the already-shaky LNG boom in the US

If you haven’t seen the documentary “The Last Emperor” it is well worth a watch. It catches all of the talent, the glamour and the creativity, but also the drama and some of the childish petulance. Such is the world of fashion I surmise.

I would flippantly suggest President 🍊 should be put in it, but the prospect of it being opened in years to come and him being unleashed on the world again is the kind of thing only a horror-film director would wish for.
