An increase of 5,454 homeless people in just two years shows that the government's 'Housing For All' policies have failed and need radical change.

📈Nov 2023:
11,542 people homeless (record high)
📈Nov 2024:
15,199 (another record, +32%)
📈Nov 2025:
16,996 (highest ever, +12%)

It's heartbreaking to see today so many boarded-up houses across Limerick City as temperatures drop, rough sleepers seeking shelter outside these derelict and vacant buildings amid a housing crisis 🎄🏚️

It's really sad to witness today—as the temperature drops in Limerick, a rough sleeper is using the new One Opera Square commercial office/retail development (currently lying empty) for shelter in the midst of a housing crisis—with 16,766 people relying on emergency accommodation.

Photo of the platform of Glasnevin railway station, which operated from 1901 to 1910. The platform was demolished in 1916, but some of the station's red-bricked outbuildings still remain behind the Bernard Shaw pub. 🚂🚃

History Repeating Itself. 😡
Ireland's eviction notices hit 15,000 in 2025—up 35%. That's 54 families a day losing their homes, mostly through no-fault evictions. Landlords are cashing in on rent-pressure loopholes the government promised to close in 2021.
Enough is enough.

Ireland is in the midst of a housing crisis, with 16,766 people, including 5,274 children, relying on emergency accommodation and likely to hit 17,000 by Christmas. Yet there are 72,000 vacant dwellings nationally connected to services and ready to go.

Utter state enabled vandalism that these 10 homes are wasted for 15 years
A social crime when so many need a home
The owners, Government, Irish Water & Cork County Council should be held to account for this

Only in Ireland!😡
In the midst of a housing crisis—with 16,766 people, including 5,274 children, relying on emergency accommodation—10 almost-completed houses in the small County Cork village of Carrignavar have lain idle for more than 15 years.

Dreary, despondent, destitute Ireland.
Neglected, rejected, dejected Ireland.
Gouged, scalped, ripped-off Ireland.

Public squalor for private profit, enabled and encouraged by a Government of landlords. It really doesn’t have to be like this.
Leaving properties vacant and derelict for decades should not be tolerated, especially during a housing emergency.

🙋🏻‍♀️ If anyone wants to factcheck his “red tape” concerns, I’ve 30+ years in the ecosystem of Irish construction regulation & procurement
A briefing for the Taoiseach ahead of a 'fireside chat' with Stripe warned the company’s co-founder billionaire John Collison was likely to be critical of Ireland’s 'red tape'.

The Taoiseach’s briefing ran to more than 25 pages for the one-on-one meeting jrnl.ie/6883478

Once describe it as “the jolliest little railway in the world” the Waterford to Tramore line opened in September 1853. After more than 100 years of service, the last trains ran on 31 December 1960 and the line closed on 1 January 1961. 🚂🚃🏖️

Ireland is its own worst enemy. At its peak in 1920, Ireland had 3,500 route miles of rail—but much of this extensive network was dismantled during the 20th century.
