I can remember a time when the World Series, a Springsteen album and a Springsteen biopic all happening on the same day would have been celebrated like the Fourth of July, Pt. II. #dadsky

If a government only serves the interests of 10% of the population, it's not so much a "government" as it is an "occupying force."

Culture is wasted on the rich.

If you grab a 3-month Xbox Game Pass card now at the old price, then cancel the recurring billing, your subscription will end in January - right after the holidays - which is when you were gonna be making resolutions anyway. Set yourself up for success. #cancel #xbox #gamepass

I was literally just talking to my therapist a couple of hours ago about how important X-Men were to my moral development, and why I've made a point to introduce my kid to the same principles.
To describe the current state of the world as a daily show of deepening horrors is a massive understatement.

However, I read something today that I think more people should see and read.

I hope she doesn't mind my me sharing it here.

I like how @davidmarquez.bsky.social put the speaker out-of-panel here to let you know that's @gailsimone.bsky.social 's voice, not the mayor's.

Nothing will remind you of the fragility of existence quite like having to wait two days for an A/C repair.

Replace "some users" with "Lex Luthor's monkeys" for a more honest headline.
Just a reminder that literally nothing can happen - anonymous comments made on Facebook! - and you can write a big negative story about a politician if you don't like them and have it blasted across social media with a negative photo choice

Taking solace in baseball, beer, hot dogs and Hamilton today. It's important to keep in mind that we're more than just our shitty government.

I didn't make it, but this playlist is giving me life on this Third of July, which I suspect will one day be referred to by historians as America's last day.

Counterpoint as someone who wrote a book about Twitter’s influence & studied the minutia of how that influence worked—it is no longer influential! The myth that it is could be easily released if folks still attached to an *idea of what it once was* make a serious calculation about what it is now.

This sounds like a bit but I’m being serious: kids using chat gpt for their homework are denying themselves the invaluable experience of learning how to bullshit their way through a problem. You drink some caffeine the night before and figure it the fuck out. That’s a skill. You need it in life.

What a privilege it is to live in a country where we have rarely known what it is like to fear being killed by any other government but our own.

I hope when we think of them years down the line, we won't have one good thing to say.
I hope they cut themselves shaving tomorrow
I hope it bleeds all day long
The pundits insist they'll rebound the stock prices
We're pretty sure they're all wrong

I hope this beef lasts forever
I hope the worst isn't over
I hope that Tesla disowns him
I hope I never get sober

Any researcher who still thinks we all lived in egalitarian societies until the invention of agriculture started a species-wide “fall from grace” into inequality should really be in the theology department, as this idea simply has nothing to do with science or evidence ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Every now and then I think about how confident we were about putting the words "Worst Year Ever" under a picture of a dumpster fire on the cover of our End of Year issue back in 2016.
