I enjoyed Horses but it is a blunt, unsubtle game with not that much depth and just doesn't go nearly as far as id like it to. Glad I played it but having done so just takes the controversy from bad to maddening

agree with this thread, but: i wouldn't assume people have seen some challenging piece of art. so many gamers don't engage with any media outside 'nerd' spaces. likely a big reason why we're sleepwalking into reliving 20th century censorship battles is these people don't know the history at all
i cannot believe video games are having a massive controversy in 2025 for a horror work like ten times less explicit and extreme than antichrist. everyone's seen that fuckin movie.

the hard fact is PC game distribution is largely in the hands of 2 monopolistic companies and both have proven themselves untrustworthy stewards of the art for any party lacking major financial backing. what this really signals to me is the future of Steam is pay to play. as if it wasn't already.
