every time I read this, I get apocalyptically apoplectic about how clear it is. it is instant. it does not require explicit congressional action to invoke, it instead only requires that to remove.

donald trump is not the current president right now, according to the constitution.

As of Feb. 6 2026, more than a year since Trump’s minions began a rampage thru congressionally funded society, my rep @jayapal.house.gov has yet to introduce articles of impeachment or even publicly support any impeachments proposed by her colleagues

You do it to build public pressure on other members of Congress to support it, which is the first step of achieving it. Avoiding mention of it and helping maintain the veneer of normal government functioning (when in reality we're in crisis) does the opposite
But we are talking about impeaching a clearly lawless president for a third time... What good does a third impeachment do if the first two never stuck?
Additionally, they should have never allowed him on the ballot after 1/6 and the felony convictions. So there are levers to be used.. None work

Impeachment is the only Constitutional check Congress has against a lawless president and talking about it would be a good start to reasserting Congressional power in the future. Assuming of course Congress wants to do that
Speaking out like this is all they can do now. Impeachment is a total and complete joke, and threatening to use it is akin to threatening to hit someone with a wet noodle. Impeachment is no longer a viable tool to use against Republican politicians.

If every website removed their paywall for a week, you'd see how much of what's in the Epstein files was covered in real time. And you'd remember what actually happened in the first Trump term and how everything he's doing now was announced then. Paywalls are a massive self-inflicted wound.

This episode of Volts is so. SO. good.

Thank you @volts.wtf @michaelhobbes.bsky.social for yelling into the void about something that's been driving me absolutely insane for years, particularly the bit about reactionary centrists conveniently ignoring the influence of asymmetrical media ecosystems.
Today on Volts: I'm joined by the great @michaelhobbes.bsky.social to discuss "reactionary centrism," an intellectual tendency that's come to dominate US public life. You know the type: would never view themselves as conservative, yet finds voluntary pronoun use vastly more aggravating than fascism.
All about "reactionary centrism"
Michael Hobbes joins me to diagnose the pundit class's obsession with scolding the left while the right burns down the house.

@crockett.house.gov You have the power to bring articles of impeachment against both of them!

It's called Rule IX. 🧵
Donald Trump and Pam Bondi once again violated the Constitution.

They’re wasting your tax dollars arresting journalists — while protecting pedophiles and the murderers of Renée Good and Alex Pretti.

That’s authoritarian bullshit.

For some reason, very few people these days will stand up and say it, but: the US federal bureaucracy is one of the great wonders of the world, staffed with incredibly diligent people who do their jobs well and care deeply.

Trump's destruction of the federal apparaus was a historic crime.
The Purged
Donald Trump’s destruction of the civil service is a tragedy not just for the roughly 300,000 workers who have been discarded, but for an entire nation.
