I'm increasingly starting to think that the migration from twitter to bluesky was/is just a prolonged admission that social media is toxic and no good for anyone. I've made some really good friends along the way most who are in my contacts. Some who are not. HMU if you wish to remain friends.

One of the stranger aspects of all this anger is the constant belief that people only have a different opinion to you because they are paid to; it is unthinkable that somebody might just disagree with you on their own dime.
The BBC paid me to say that, by the way.

I've been on Bluesky for almost two & a half years now.
Initially, I jokingly compared it to methadone, as against the heroin of prime period Twitter.
Now I don't think it's a joke.
Bluesky is methadone; not as fun or useful as Twitter was when it worked, but just as addictive & just as bad for you.

Our politicians are so busy successfully getting people to point their fingers at each other to stay in 'power' and get a pay cheque that they have no time left to sort out real issues in society. Thus it is and always was.

There is nothing like an Irish person in the arts who becomes famous and inevitably gets found out to be a spoofer. I have a list. It has unfolded gloriously over the years.

As ever, I am impressed how many of you remember this stuff.
No lying or making yourself out to be a cool kid.
Post the first record you bought.
If you can remember the shop or circumstances add that too. Local color appreciated.

Never forget that people who pose as "protectors" of women & children have been emboldened *by government & media* right up to the point where they try to burn women & children in their beds.

And as for the gardai, do they honestly think they themselves haven't contributed massively to this problem by letting these racist thugs away with so much over the past few years?

You reap what you sow, and AGS would to well to sort out their own house before pointing fingers at the government

Don't fucking talk to me about immigration and the housing crisis. Name me one single IPAS applicant who is a landlord in this country. Just fucking one.

If you have a major grievance with someone fine block them. If its minor enough to still be following them then grow up and have a chat about it. That's how it works in real life.

This is why I've moved more away from engaging on here because it gets in on you when someone doesn't respond. Be a grown up and ask someone why they disagree with you. My DMs have always been open to friends so why just do that?
Weird thing when you realise an old pal has somehow muted you or such for a really mild opinion on something. I think it's because someone in the convo had a mutual blocked but instead of coming to you with a grievance just ignores you. Is that ghosting? As the kids say 🤣. The curse of Social media.

So it wasn't fireworks. It was a calculated and deliberate attempt at the mass murder of men, women and children.

New Garda statement on Drogheda says the IPAS fire was started deliberately

“Following initial reports of the fire being started by the discharge of fireworks, investigations by An Garda Síochána to date indicate that the fire was started deliberately by person or persons unknown.”

Philip Dwyer & Fergus Power 'protesting' at Tusla HQ today in Dublin. They say 'the men have to stand up for the kids and get all *these* out of the country'. Of course they only stand against non white men, white abusers are fine to them. Neither one of these 'men' should be near children at all.

They lose an election, and immediately lurch to the right to appease the vote-spoilers.
I've been watching this for more than 20 years in European politics, and now Ireland is inexorably heading in the same overtly racist direction.
Buckle up, things are about to get really, really shit.
Immigration numbers are too high. We have to listen to the people in this country. The increase is too high.
