@schumer.senate.gov didn't have the guts to stand up for his own wretched agenda and thinks this will somehow fool us? He will go down in infamy right alongside the MAGAs because if you don't support We the People, you're de facto supporting them. We'll be waiting a long time for that penny to drop.
Every mother fucking son of bitch on this list who voted to open the government needs to be primaried!

Chuck Schumer voted no, but he was the catalyst behind them voting yes!

Attorney General Dan Rayfield: Before the Supreme Court, the government’s own attorney admitted that the American people will pay 30-80% of Trump’s tariffs. These tariffs are an unlawful tax on working families.

The bosses don't want a healthy workforce. It's expensive to pay employees enough to eat well and get adequate rest, plus provide insurance that actually meets their healthcare needs.

The bosses want an expendable workforce, so when one worker craps out another will take over their low-paying job.
Why do people buy pizza with EBT?

Because cauliflower is five dollars a head and you can buy five pizzas with the same money.

It’s not that folks don’t want to be healthy. They can’t afford to be healthy.

If @schumer.senate.gov cared about SNAP benefits he'd endorse @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

Dems who shun a socialist perspective are espousing "fascism lite". They want the same things as the GOP: “Liberty and justice for me and my friends, fuck everyone else”. The Dems just have a bigger umbrella.
Trump is trying to withhold SNAP benefits from hungry families, children, seniors, and our vets.

He's weaponizing hunger.

Tattoos can be removed or transformed into something that doesn’t scream NAZI, just sayin’
I guess where I’m landing is less “oh no he’s a Nazi” and more “I just went through this shit with Fetterman and Sinema and a six year term is too long for me to take on faith that your Nazi tattoo was the accident but what you’re saying now is the truth.”

Those who are dedicated and fortunate enough to launch opera careers are often constrained to serve the entitled and greedy, because among those who attend operas are many who cannot appreciate the labor of love that is *the* prerequisite for a singing career. blog.liberatedvoice.studio/serenity/

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

SERENITY
new blog post

This began as a meditation on the futility I've been feeling about how difficult it is for artists to feel heard and appreciated in fields that remain dependent on the patronage of the wealthy & cruel.

Fortunately, it ends with serenity. blog.liberatedvoice.studio/serenity/

Recommended reading: Rudolph Herzog's book about humor — what jokes were allowed, what jokes weren't, what jokes could get you imprisoned, what jokes could get you shot — during the Third Reich. It's sobering reading right now, as Trump attacks comedians, late night talk show hosts, and actors.

Empathy is a practice.

The well-wishing mantras that appear throughout my blog post this week are drawn from my version of metta practice, also called loving-kindness meditation. You say or think the words, and notice what arises within you in response to them.

Those station groups not allowing their viewers to see tonight’s Jimmy Kimmel are denying them access to an important moment in TV history.

“Empathy” is a word that has lately been receiving rather casual treatment in public discourse, like we’re all in agreement about what it means… but perhaps we aren’t.
