Hey, y'all! My name is Viet, and I'm hoping to find like-minded folks and friendly faces here on Bluesky as I migrate away from Twitter/X.

I like basketball, cats, longboarding, video games, and D&D. I fancy myself an open-minded dude, and I've tried my hand at a few fun things over the years.

If you are able to, you could celebrate my birthday with me (I'm 40!) by giving money in the #mutualAid tag or to a food bank near you. Or if you're out and about, find a Little Free Pantry near you and drop off some Spaghettios etc. They are a superfood (they are not)

The best way to show that MAGA is not part of some dark authoritarian movement is to remove professors who suggest that it is
Indiana University removed a Lecturer from her "Diversity, Human Rights, and Social Justice" course after a student filed a complaint about a graphic the instructor showed in class, which included "Make America Great Again" as an example of "Covert White Supremacy."

Alison Isenberg moderated my first-ever panel discussion, and we kept in touch here and there for years afterwards. When we last talked, we had an illuminating conversation about urban uprisings in New Jersey and around the country.

What a sad loss.

Some people are responding to this meanly, like "good riddance" or "bye!" and I want to make clear -- I'll still be in New York a lot, in my 14-bedroom UWS penthouse overlooking the park. I'll be there like 8 months a year. But the other four? I will be gone. On vacation, mostly. Because of Mamdani.

If Mamdani wins I will leave New York. I will go live in one of the other 5 houses I have, perhaps the one in South Florida, or the one in Paris, or Napa, or Cabo, but I will definitely leave New York. I will keep my apartment, though, because it's awesome and New York is great. But I will leave.

Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.

I will forever say, there are times that call for high risk activities.

But there are NEVER times that call for doing high risk activities with The New Guy, especially if The New Guy proposes them.
If someone is advocating for doing high risk activities, esp if it's someone you're new to, STAY AWAY from that person.

"It’s not on us, on you and me, to use AI ethically or responsibly. It’s on the companies to build safe, reliable, ethical products," David M. Perry writes.
