They’re didnt talk to disabled people or groups that represent them before making the welfare reform bill, they’re clearly not talking to young people about their mental health before making unevidenced proclamations about them. Just who are the government actually talking to?

The OP has turned off quote posts and comments. I don’t disagree about Labour here but without context it makes Reform and the Tories look good. Remember they only voted against the bill because it doesn’t strip enough away from the disabled. Not because they seek to protect us. Context matters.

🚨 BREAKING: Despite strong opposition, this vote confirms that the government is pushing ahead with some reforms to disability benefits.

After some last-minute concessions, the detail of what exactly is in those reforms is currently unclear.

The legal advice is clear the welfare reform bill - even amended - would breach our commitments to uphold international laws on disability discrimination. Today I asked the Government to commit to address this risk.

The benefits cuts bill was voted through.

Timms confirmed that the claim they'll remove the PIP part of the bill (i.e. the 4 points criteria), that they only said to win votes, may never happen.

This bill doesn't just impact PIP, but also UC and ESA.

This country has become utter garbage.

I've just had my PIP assessment back, and I am on the enhanced rate for BOTH daily living and mobility. My daily living has scores comprising of 1s, 2s, and 0s. Next reassessment in 2028... & it looks like absolutely nothing has changed, and the concessions mean nothing @alicemlabour.bsky.social

The Welfare Reform Bill is not about Reform. The only 'moral imperative' here, is to take care of the most vulnerable in our society. All else, is immoral smoke & dissembling.

Even with the tweaks, Labour's welfare cuts will push 150,000 more people into poverty. Disability groups across the UK are calling for the government to cancel these cruel cuts, as are the Lib Dems. There's still time for Labour to pull the Bill and go back to the drawing board on welfare reform.
Keir Starmer's revised welfare cuts will put 150,000 more people into poverty, according to the Government's own analysis.

Only down 100,000 from the 250,000 previously estimated
