Day 3 of Spooky Empire!

I'm excited to talk about haunting ghost stories, then signing books with the ineffable @wendydalrymple.bksky.social, and closing the Creators Track with 25 Years of Horror: Trends in the 21st Century.

Thank you to everyone who stopped at the HWA Florida Chapter table!

Day 2 of Spooky Empire! I'll be paneling on writing horror (and getting published!), the delicious mix of horror and comedy, and why Florida is the perfect inspiration for horrific stories. And bonus: at noon, my wife will be on a panel about living with spooky spouses.

Come say hi, spooky folks!

Queer, weird, Gothic, and skeletons in love. Come get a sticker at Spooky Empire! I'll be on Creators Track panels Saturday and Sunday, and at the @horrorwritersassoc.bsky.social table all three days.

Morning pages: LITTLE MYSTERIES by Sara Gran isn't what I expected. Deeper in, the stories are so raw, tapping into love and despair in achingly universal ways.

Read slow and let them sink in.

October vibes at @ancientcitypoets today! Poets talked about Autumn nights, dark creatures, transcendence, and fighting life's true monsters. Stay spooky, poets!

October-ween with my horror movie bestie, @quaintrelle.bsky.social included MARY LOSS OF SOUL and THE EXORCIST in the theater, along with some delish snacks, of course.

Counting down to 'ween with
@quaintrelle.bsky.social, who still watches horror movies with me even though I text her stuff like this about THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS.

This time, we'll see THE EXORCIST in the theater!

I'm halfway through ITCH! by @manylittlewords.bsky.social. It's deliciously skin-crawling folk horror and narrated by Gemma Amor.

No spoilers, but the scene where Josie leaves her dad's place due to the unexpected guest? Thank you! I was so worried.

Good morning to the person in Publix putting a wig on pumpkins to figure out which one to buy. I freakin' love Halloween season. 🎃

Alligators and crocodiles under a nearly full Harvest Moon at Croctoberfest. Breakfast tacos and binging TV with family. An incredible book haul. October birthday 2025 has been fabulous.

It was a blast talking with student writers at Lauren Tivey's Publishing and Writing class. The speculative fiction and poetry from these @flaglercollege.bsky.social and SJR State students is going to blow us all away.

Horror folks, it's the middle of September, and the Stoker Recommended Reading List is looking extremely small. If you're a member of the HWA, go recommend something you've read that you loved!

Y'all: HIM was incredible. It's visceral and surreal, with haunting visuals. It washes over you, smothers you. See it in the theater, if you can.

Tyriq Withers and the entire cast drew me in, but Marlon Wayans is uncomfortably compelling and terrifying.

Today's the day! I'll be part of the Poet Showcase at Spinster Abbott's in St. Augustine.

Fill up your depleted heart with poetry, and join the community open mic afterwards.

Spinster Abbott's has a wide selection of adult and NA beverages, and the Hot Box food truck is delish.
