Fantastic stuff here from Pritzker. If you're a Democratic governor, mayor, or city council member in a high COL blue state right now and you aren't laser focused on increasing the infill housing supply, either get your shit together or resign and let someone who will do the job.
Just unveiled the Building Up IL Developments (BUILD) plan and gathered a group to talk about housing in our state.

The consensus? We need to build more and fast.

Looking forward to getting it out to communities across Illinois.

At a time when Black history is being erased, it’s more important than ever to keep diverse stories and histories alive.

This Black History Month, I wanted to share books that have inspired me and are fundamental to my thinking, politic, & how I represent our district in the Capitol every day.

interesting to think that revolutionary era americans understood themselves as making a break with the “old world” and establishing a new civilization. and crucially, this new civilization rested on republican self-government, not “sovereignty.”
The Rubio speech really is appalling, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.

BART is recovering from an earlier problem. There is a 20-minute delay in the Berryessa, SFO and Millbrae directions due to an earlier equipment problem on the track between 19th St. Oakland and MacArthur station.

I realize media doesn’t think it’s a big deal that Trump, Vance & Hegseth continue to give partisan political speeches to troops, evidenced by the fact that they are never asked about it nor are members of Congress, but it is one of the most dangerous things happening right now.

It’s so hard to imagine no BART that it’s challenging to process that phase 2 (cutting service 70%, closing 15 stations) will ultimately lead to BART suspending service entirely.

Slashing service would crater ridership and revenue and lead to end of BART.

We must pass Connect Bay Area measure!

I was in a CoreCivic prison in AZ years ago. Food was hot garbage. Ppl would lose like 20 pounds within months of arriving. When I was in the hole we had to protest by boarding up our windows because medical request were taking hella long to be answer if they ever got answered at all. IIRC they also
So dark — Tennessee-based @CoreCivic wants to be making even more money on ICE detentions.

“ICE was our first customer 43 years ago, and has been our largest customer for over a decade,” CoreCivic CEO Patrick Swindle said on the earnings call.

Today’s BART board workshop was sobering. We reviewed potential service and budget cuts in the event that we don’t get additional revenue. We explored closing stations, lines, and service hours. One thing that I don’t think ppl understand is that the phase two approach is the best case scenario.

With the looming deficits for CA and local governments, we need to take a serious look at repealing Prop 13 even if it means redoing the entire constitution. We can’t keep going back to working families and asking them to subsidize major land owners

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

VICTORY! The emergency funding deal we fought so hard for in 2025 has finally been made! The state will issue a $590 million emergency loan to hold off disastrous cuts to BART, Caltrain, AC Transit, and Muni that would have started this July.

Since last year, we’ve been reporting on ICE extensively. But every week brings new information, and it’s getting harder to keep track of what’s happening, let alone remember what’s already happened.

So here’s a quick thread to help.

BART Irvington station is an important project, but BART is NOT throwing away money.

They’re instead applying for funding for core infrastructure that will serve all riders.

And if Sen Wahab thinks the station is important, she should have been working on this for years, collaboratively with BART.

Federal agents cornered Marimar Martinez, shot her several times, boasted about it, arrested her, lied about her to the public and in the police report, and falsely charged her with assaulting them.

Now the government wants to keep evidence of their lies secret to protect these agents' "privacy."
DeWald cites "privacy interests" for an "agent number 3" and his body worn camera as one of the govt's concerns over making the case material piblic, among other issues.

As federal agents have been going into private property without warrants, businesses and large buildings (apts & condos) should implement safety measures like locked doors, signage saying federal agents aren’t allowed, and clear instructions for property managers not to let secret police in, etc
