5/ That sets the basic terms of the situation. But one cannot then blithely move on to a consideration of whether Epstein ever explicitly accused Trump of misconduct, let alone do what the Washington Post did today—sufficient misconduct for the paper to be shuttered—and publish *this* vile headline:

(🧵) This thread from a retired journalism professor who helped usher in the era of metajournalism in the 2010s—and has written a book on the relationship between Trump and Epstein as part of his NYT-bestselling Proof Series—explains how to report properly on the Trump-Epstein Scandal.

Here we go.

There's a lot of different angles in the new Epstein Emails-But Her Emails!-but an important angle that hasn't been discussed much is the clear Russian angle-there's a lot about Epstein's communications with Russia and Russian friendly officials. craigunger.substack.com/p/the-epstei...
The Epstein Emails: The Russian Connection
According to Jeffrey Epstein, Russian ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin learned a lot about Trump from their conversations. Then, he died. "Life is short," said the pedophile. "Start with dessert."

I expect Part 3 to come out next month. Upshot: any narrative about Trump and Epstein that does not discuss the Plaza Hotel, their modeling agencies, their shared girlfriends, the full timeline of Trump learning about what Epstein was doing, his own statements confirming pedophilia, is a cruel hoax.

With all the bombshells this might be the biggest of them all-Epstein spoke to the Russians about how to deal with Trump before a meeting with Putin. Epstein was using his knowledge of Trump with foreign governments-we know all about Israel but it was Russia too www.politico.com/news/2025/11...
Jeffrey Epstein claimed he gave Russians insight into Trump
Newly released emails show the late convicted sex offender’s extensive network of foreign contacts, whom he corresponded with about Trump’s policy decisions.

I mean by definition if Trump's popularity is permanently damaged then clearly the Democrats got far from "nothing" out of the shutdown. They got a few other things-like SNAP benefits being funded for the next year and Trump and his party being branded clearly as wanting to kill ACA subsidies

I do think this is true-it wasn't the optimal conclusion but the Dems still won this confrontation-if nothing else GOP owns the cuts to the ACA subsidies and if there is another shutdown in January Snap Benefits will be protected.

Even though Democrats didn’t get the biggest possible win, they still won the shutdown.

This is the message of a failed, feckless, and leaderless party. We need a party with backbone, and the only path to it is through a cleansing primary season. If your Dem is up for reelection, and you aren't damn sure they're fighting the fascists with everything they've got, primary the bastard.

Went to repost this and then depressingly saw it was from 8 months ago. This is still true, and I am now convinced it will remain true until there are successful primary challenges nationwide to the "roll over and play dead" Dems.
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Bullies gain power when their misconduct succeeds in causing righteous people to yield in the face of wrongdoing. That’s why voting for Trump's continuing resolution - without any protection against his health care cuts or his growing illegality - is a mistake.

I voted NO.
