I think when it's all told, self-hatred is probably the biggest thing fueling any fascist movement, past, present, future.

The media should really be reporting on this bill. Aside from being absurdly undemocratic, it is far far beyond the pale for how dehumanizing and harmful it is to trans people. It's really just meant to expose us to threat and make us want to die.
"The bill, HB246 ... instructs the director of vehicles of Kansas to identify every license issued to a trans person and send written notice that the license must be surrendered and reissued. Driving with a license that has been canceled, suspended, or revoked is a misdemeanor in Kansas."
An extreme Kansas bill will invalidate the drivers license of every trans person in the state. It was passed alongside a particularly extreme bathroom bill, meaning that the implications of every trans Kansan losing legal ID overnight has largely been missed.

Being trans in a world of electronic databases is knowing that no matter what you do, how long you live with your legally changed name, how many locations you correct it in, someone will find a way to deadname you.
Electronic health records were a mistake. (I said it during the Obama admin and have been vindicated.)

This is pretty shocking, as it's hard to overstate what an established and trusted surgeon Ting is. There is even a documentary glamorizing Ting and his work with trans patients.

Very interesting thread. Diagnosing Body Dysmorphic Disorder for a trans client is a huge red flag—confusing Gender Dysphoria with BDD is extremely bad, and also surgeries and other body modifications have no proven efficacy for BDD.
An actual gender therapist would never make a mistake like that.

DHS doesn’t even bother trying to lie well. The man whose skull was shattered told the hospital he’d been struck by ICE officers, an ICE officer told hospital staff the guy “got his sh*t rocked,” then when it became clear how badly he was injured, they claimed he deliberately ran into a wall.

Organizations like Therapy First downplay the suicide risk to trans youth while pushing useless "therapy" that actually makes things worse, and they're currently teaching accredited courses through the APA
The figures here also show that 7% of all child suicides were trans children. That compares with trans children making up only 1% of the population.

I think we really need to talk about how it is becoming more and more normalized to dehumanize trans people, and how a legal right to dehumanize trans people is being established in many jurisdictions
I'm struck at the contrast of how Republicans treat trans people, whom they expect to simply absorb all kinds of hate speech and abuse on a daily basis just as a normal part of life

They are so obviously trying to build a national consensus for a martial law occupation of Minneapolis, and by extension other liberal enclaves. This is how other modern dictatorships in other countries have consolidated.

This is a public health issue. Having IDs that correctly identify us is linked to all kinds of benefits, and having incorrect IDs is linked to terrible outcomes. Blue states need to do this to protect us from the harm inflicted by bigot states.

I think blue states need to explore issuing IDs to non residents to help trans people in red states because this is going to get worse and may take decades to overturn.
Kansas just passed a monstrous bill enabling criminal penalties and vigilante lawsuits for trans people using the bathroom according to their gender identity and requires them to surrender their current drivers licenses and birth certificates if it does not match their sex assigned at birth.
