More evidence that the US government are lying liars who will lie about anything, this footage of ICE killing Alex Pretti supports the claim he was protecting a woman from violent ICE agents. The only thing he was brandishing was a phone.

I don't think this is the case. Many European security researchers are alarmed precisely because of their deep investment in US networks and communication with US colleagues, many of whom are telling us to be concerned and to seek out alternatives for the sake of our own security.

Bayer really seem to have a hard-on for genocide. Previously, as part of the IG Farben conglomerate, they were up to their necks in the crimes of Nazi Germany - e.g. conducting medical experiments in Auschwitz, producing gas, etc. encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/a...

🧵 @jburnmurdoch.ft.com is spot on about the conditions in his FT piece. Liberal democracy held it together thanks to growth, good demographics, and the promise of a better future. Those days are gone, and that’s the "why" behind the erosion. However...
Democratic politicians have, though, pursued growth in GDP at the expense of other values. One response to @jburnmurdoch.ft.com pessimistic scenario is refocus on those values, combined with egalitarianism, sufficiency and quality of life. Not "it's the economy, stupid" but "it's the the society"
Is liberal democracy in terminal decline?

Trump on NATO:

"The problem with NATO is that we'll be there for them 100% but I'm not sure that they'd be there for us, if we gave them the call".

We did get the call on 9/11. 26 NATO members sent troops to defend the US. Hundreds died doing so. It was the only time Article 5 has been activated.

Trump:

"NATO has treated the United States very badly. We've never asked for anything. We've never got anything."

Tell that to the families of 850 soldiers from 19 non-US NATO countries who died fighting to defend the United States in Afghanistan - the only occasion Article 5 was ever triggered.

Now Trump is returning the favor, giving them advance notice of his Venezuela attack and sending their stocks skyrocketing by promising them control of the country's oil reserves.

During Fiona Hill's testimony to Congress on Oct 14, 2019, she described how Trump and Putin discussed exchanging Ukraine for Venezuela. The quid pro quo was if Trump refuses to help Ukraine fight off a Russian invasion, Putin would not help Venezuela (a Russian ally) resist a US takeover.
